Having said all of this I am fed up of the number of moaners we have as fans. I stood next to a so called fan at Birmingham who slagged our players off for the full 90 minutes. If you don't like City just do us all a favour and fuck off to Old Trafford-there are 75,000 like you there every week. Now is the time to get behind Bob and the team.

Taggart is always moaning about the fixture list. Harry is always moaning about his bare bones and his injury list. Wenger moans about the number of games that the top clubs play. Taggart got a 3rd round FA Cup bye because he moaned. All the top managers moan about something. Referees a lot of the time. Or the media. Mourinho moaned about his players being tired the other week after a 0-0 draw. Mancini doesn't like players playing every 3 days (sometimes he exaggerates this) and moans about it. Its boring just as as every other managers moans are boring. Mancini also said we should be happy for the amount of games we are playing because it means we are doing well. Actually he moaned that we should be happy but it was a positive moan which is a contradiction in terms. Unless its a sex moan.

Besides moaning is good. Its all you fucking do on here after all.

Moans about things like games, fixtures, refs, media etc etc are one thing and maybe aimed at deflecting away from the team but telling ,I mean saying the players are tired seems to do the opposite!

That's fine, so long as we perform well enough to reach some of our targets & don't all start playing like a bunch of pensioners, as in the 2nd half on Saturday. Keegan's surprised sounding comment on ESPN that we've played "45 games" wasn't meant as an excuse for how knackered we looked; quite the opposite.

Carl,
As much as I love and respect you mate, I think that you are a little off beam with this tiredness thing and I think that you and others are not fully understandiong what mancini is saying.
There is a level of performance that Mancini wants to achieve. Every time we paly so many games in quick succession, that level lowers a bit. The body need time to recover in order to get it fully fit to be able to acheive that top level. What Mancini is saying is that with so many games being played by the same players (mainly because of injuries) and the fact that that schedule has gone on for as long as it has, that top level of performance is becoming harder to achieve.

It doesnt mean that City players are out on their feet, it doesn't mean that City players can't play games, it means that at the very highest level, there is a shortfall between what they can achieve and what they are able to acheive.

Like us, Mancini wants to see City at the very top of their game.

Right then...having sorted that out...I have to say that I also agree with what ted has said regarding players he has let go that could now be useful in our lesser games.
Personally, I think that Mancini has had a lesson given to him and hopefuly he has learned from it. This season may see crucial but the pressure on our squad may be even more intense over the next few seasons. Hopefully mancini will understand that English football is not only about putting a good team together, it is aslo about understanding and planning for its physical challenges.

But has he let anyone go who really would have been useful? Bridge and RSC were both either injured or sub standard, Bellamy and Ade he simply for whatever reason couldn't work with. I'm sure we'd all prefer to see either of those two on the bench instead of Jo and perhaps we'll never know the reasons behind it, but Mancini obviously thought it was the best thing for the team.

I agree with what you say John but, two things :

1) All successful teams have players who play often enough to feel a drop off in potential performance - it's no different for us.

2) There is a psychological effect that Mancini could be having on our players here ...... i.e. If he keeps mentioning it they will start feeling it even more.

To paraphrase Basil Fawlty ......

I'm watching players not giving 100% game after game........Players are not giving their all for the cause IMO....if the manager is making excuses for them about tiredness then it just gives them room for slackness.......in my opinion.

Plus, as I was intimating, it may actually be that the players feel tired, whereas if Mancini was 'bigging them up' and making them feel on fire, they might just feel a bit more 'refreshed'.
