Disappointed in you agreeing with that tripe Ant. Noticeably he didn't answer the question because he couldnt and tried to deflect it by trivialising what's happening and comparing it with nonsense about another manager. Actually Harry might be doing a better deflecting job in that at least his the talk is about him and not the team. With us the talk is about the team an our tiredness which is not where it should be.
I don't for 1 second think that the player's ONLY go by what Mancini says to the press but it has a part to play. But I would ask, do you think he says one thing publically and another to the players? What he says in public has in truth been picked up by players from things they have also said in interviews and I do think it is reflected in what I see on the training ground.
There was no question to answer. That the players keep the same party line as Mancini is no surprise. What is fed to the media is bland baby food these days. "We play a lot of games and we have some injuries and this impacts on performance sometimes". Really? Fuck me.
This does not change the fact we have little to no idea what discussions take place between the players and Mancini. All we are doing is projecting our own anxieties and concerns in the absence of any hard facts other than what is said to the media.
With respect to the training ground what do you see that gives you concern with specific reference to the tiredness issue?
From what has been said many times I think we do know what kind if discussions go on between Mancini & the players; none whatsoever. He talks football with them, then if they want to discuss anything with him, they go to see him, so, as usual, your version of events & the actual reality have nothing much in common & the absolute opposite is probably true, what they hear Mancini say in the media is most likely the most they ever hear anything on the subject.
Judging by the diversity of opinion on here, some of the players will agree with you & some of the players will agree with me & some will agree with what Mancini says, hence some of the players think he's making excuses to protect his own arse or he's been forced into that position by Cook etc, some think there's no problem & some think the team is getting tired. How thae fucking hell in a million fucking years can that be helping us in any way shape or form?
QUOTE:
Manchester City defender Micah Richards believes the club's buying spree must continue if they're to compete for trophies.
Richards admits the current squad is struggling with their heavy schedule.
After victory over Wigan Athletic, Richards said: "It's hard to play so many games in a short space of time.
"It's why you need a big squad. We are in all competitions and today the boys were a bit leggy."
Excuses for failure loaded & ready to go, just in case.
You know I read this several times and am still none the wiser.
On one hand "we do know what kind of discussions Mancini has with players: none" and on the other they discuss football with him and if they want to discuss anything else they go and see him. Presumably they just sit in his office and play 'Guess What I Am Thinking' or maybe its a ongoing game of charades. Which would be fun. I suspect Yaya would be a real hoot tugging his ear and miming 'Gone Wth The Wind' by way of explaining to Roberto he's all puffed out.
On a more serious note I would have thought discussions about football would encompass performance levels and how they are feeling physically and mentally but I am still not sure whether we think Mancini has discussions with the players or not. I doubt if he makes small talk if that helps.
The quote from Micah is just stating the current party line and usual bollocks you get from teams/players 'playing a lot of games...boys a bit leggy...need a big squad' yada, yada - heard it a million times. I understand you believe its Mancini's masterplan to explain why it all went wrong whereas I just see it as restating the bleeding obvious in an attempt to dampen expectations - something Mancini has done pretty much all season in varying ways. Like 'we are aiming for top 4 and not the title' bit for which he was panned for not being ambitious enough. How much this reflects what he thinks privately or what he discusses with the players I do not know but I know enough not to take public pronouncements that seriously.
By 'players' I assume you mean 'posters'...or not. Whatever.
No I mean players as in, if we all have different opinions on here about Mancini's tiredness mantra & some of us think he's acting like a loser, some of the players will also probably have differinfg opinions & some will think he's acting like a loser. How that helps is...well it fucking doesn't, I can't be arsed humouring even the fucking possibility that it does. It's utter bollocks.
Also..
Why the fucking hell do we want to DAMPEN EXPECTATIONS!!!??? FUCKING HELL!! WE'VE GOT A POSSIBLE CUP SEMI FINAL, A POSSIBLE UEFA SEMI FINAL & A BATTLE TO BE IN THE CHAMPION'S LEAGUE!! PLAY IT DOWN!!?? WHY?? SHOUT IT FROM THE FUCKING ROOFTOPS & GO BALLS OUT FOR THE LOT. WHEN DO WE ACTUALLY START ACTING LIKE WINNERS, NEXT SEASON, THE ONE AFTER?
JESUS.
