Getting back to the thread, did Robbie play well? He looked good in the highlights. However, it could be said that he bottled his chances.

He was involved in two or three moves which were the only real bits of quality football in 90 mins of utter mediocrity. He was worried about the challenge & miskicked what should have been an easy finish 1st half. Other than that, he was his usual ineffective self & that against a Spurs side who couldn't string two passes together on the night. Their passing & performance was 20 times better at Blackpool when they lost. Good job for them that AC were pants.

Glad they stayed in as they'd be well rested when they play us otherwise & Bob would have both us & them convinced we had no chance of beating them.

Was I watching the same game?
The game I saw had Spurs in a backs to the wall battle to save themselves being overrun. Mostly chasing shadows and on their own middin too.

If that had been City, it would have been a shameful display by City, who just and luckily managed to scrape through.

That's how I saw it John. Nothing special about Spuds' performance even after Bale came on. However the important thing is that they could afford to defend only as the had the all important away win. That's what counted in the end.
I was in 2 minds watching this match. I wanted to see them loose and get humiliated by Milan but on the other hand logic said that they should stay in the CL and rack up more matches (and injuries) so they wont be so fresh when the face us.
On topic, Robbie had a couple of chances that could have changed everything.

Milan seeemd to have 3 attacking players.Robinho we know all about and he had the 2 main chances which he fluffed but he did on occasion look a threat. Pato who looked very good in the build up play and was probably closest to scoring with that one into the side netting. And then there was Ibrahimovic who for me ,yet again, looked a joke.I thought a top player playing well up top for Milan and they might well have won but he was so insignificant it was hard to believe.I think I would rather have Jo.

I wonder if there was any truth in the tales of us being genuinely interested in him? I was saying at the time that I could imagine him being either a Rodney Marsh style, eccentric, fans' hero or alternatively a nightmare that costs Bob his job. Looking at his performance v Spurs it's a bloody good job we didn't buy him.

Yeah. Should've played complete reserve sides and got us knocked out early as per usual. Silly man.

Maybe so but Tottenham going through benefits us, I mean the longer their minds are on the champs league (a cup realistically they won't win) and off their league matches the better it is for us.

Tottenham having more games to play is only half the story. Teams like to win, winning makes them confident, confidence makes you play better.

Hopefully they'll get someone very difficult in the next round & get completely battered over both legs, pick up a few injuries & then play us.

want Barcelona to give them a run around then? Maybe Shakthar, or Schalke could give them a run. They're quite physical themselves.

While wolves played great on the weekend, I think a big reason for the draw was that tottenhams minds were already on ac milan

Benefits us until they win it!

Unlikely I agree, but it was unlikely that Liverpool would do it when they were lying in fifth in the league as well.

Ibra has a long-standing reputation for choking in clutch matches, and yesterday was no exception.

He is more useful than harmful league-wise, but don't count on him to perform in key matches in the league or in (almost) any knockout-round matches in any cup
