It would be much better for Man City overall if he left. If he stays we are the unified (for the most part) Man City team + wantaway Tevez. Without him we are the unified (for the most part) Man City team. I think at this level the game is almost 80% mental, so the fewer distractions the better

I think we will be going for Aguero regardless of the Tevez situation.It's going to be a testing season on the squad when we have to play full strength in europe at all times and Mancini has previously stated he wants four quality strikers.

I certainly do not want Tevez to stay any longer but we have been pushed around far to often in the market and quite rightly we should be looking to complete this deal on our terms not Corinthians.

Yes - well done CITY (asuming that this is true) we have had to 'swallow' on a number of deals over the last couple of years but we have now reached the point where players will want to be part of things here (obviously apart from Tevez) - we need to change our image from a team that are desperate and can be mugged to one that is strong and will dictate terms

Which, of course, doesn't make sense given that the time in São Paulo is BST minus 4 hours. These clowns are full of shit. If Tevez goes there, he'll be there a year. Corinthians will then take a hit on him to the tune of about 8,000,000€ as he comes back to Europe, but this will have been covered by merchandise and advertising revenues over the previous season.

That said, I'd still get rid at 40 million quid. This whole thing is really getting on my tits now. The worst case scenario is him still being here and pulling his face in the same way that he did during his last 6 months at the Swamp.

Tevez's £44m move in doubt as clock ticks for Corinthians to complete deal

Carlos Tevez's transfer to Corinthians hung in the balance last night when the Brazilian club failed to provide the necessary banker's guarantee to Manchester City that underpins the £44m deal.

City sources say that the payment schedule has been agreed – four payments over four years with the first before the end of this year – and that the total figure of £40m and £4m in add-ons is acceptable to both parties. However, another 24 hours without any cast-iron evidence that Corinthians have the money are making the English club dubious the deal will be completed. The Brazilian transfer window also closes today.

City are in Canada on tour without Tevez, who played for Argentina in the Copa America this month, and want to get the deal done. They fear that the latest delay will mean that the saga of their captain's future will drag on once again. They accepted a fee from Corinthians lower than their £50m valuation of the player so that he could live closer to his family in Buenos Aires.

Without Tevez, City won their first tour game 2-1 against Vancouver Whitecaps in the early hours of yesterday morning with a winning goal from Shaun Wright-Phillips. Shay Given, the former City goalkeeper who joined Aston Villa this week, said that Tevez was not a "mercenary".

Given said: "I think it looks like he'll probably leave, but there's lots of negotiating to go. I don't think it's mercenary. You've got to respect his decision. He's got two young kids in Argentina and he sees them once every two months so it's very difficult for him.

"He is one of the best players in the world and people forget there's a human being behind that and he does have human feelings as well. I wish him well, he's been a great player for Man City and he'll be missed."
