I still have memories of when he played for Arsenal against us Maine Road and had a blinder. Can't remember the year.

Look, this is one instance where I'm sure he wouldn't mind even if he bothered to read this site. Some broke ass engineer with 17 years to go with mortgage who puts in hours to earn living mouthing off how he feels Taylor isn't goo enough to be our second choice? He'd just laugh at me and rightly so. This guy has it figured out. In fact, he is probably happy to be third choice. That's much less travelling and you only need to be on a stand by during the games.

And I love how there's always group of people who start feeling sorry for players like Taylor or any other player getting stick either. These lads earn super duper money and yes, one of the downsides of the job is that they have to listen to(or in this case see, as I'm sure they read Internet as well) people moaning about them. Tough shit, for 100k/w, or 10 k/w I'd do it. I myself earn below 1k/w mark and still because of my line of work the way I have done my job gets often judged in newspapers. Only while back in comment section of one direct interview I was compared to "Hitler and Stalin" by some weirdo and there were others who were moaning about some I'd done. Did I lose any sleep over it? Absolutely not.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

How do they know this? If my memory is correct he has only played one game for us in the FA CUP where his only fault that day was that he wasnt Shay Given.

Fans will just have to accept its almost impossible to have two expierenced Premiership standard keepers on our books. i cant remember any club having a better combo than we had last year and that was only ever going to last a season.

Who would be better for the number 2 slot than Taylor who seems more than happy to be a back up option?

I don't know about keepers who are happy to be back ups but two who would definitely be improvement on Taylor and are already back ups in their clubs are Kirkland and Gordon. Kirkland especially lives locally and doesn't make him much sense to drop down divisions especially as he is probably on decent wages. His body isn't suited to full season between sticks and I think he might know it himself as well. I also read some interview where he said that he has serious plans becoming a fireman (!) after playing days so he MIGHT settle for place in our bench. Better than sitting in bench of Wigan fo so. Gordon is younger and perhaps more ambitious so that's more debatable.

I thought Karius was on tour Doug? (Taylor looked shocking the other night -

Timo has had 345 appearances in 13 years including 7 full German caps but Stu Taylor is a record breaker - the lowest number of games for a player who was not injured or ill - 86 games in 14 years. In Stuart's case I fear it shows but I'm glad he's had a few stormers along the way.

johnny crossan, thank you for the Stalybridge highlights you posted in the other thread. Very much appreciated.
