Johnno has lots of talent but if it's a battle of the crocks; I remember watching Johnno when he was at his best & mentally comparing him with Hargreaves & being quietly shocked at how Hargreaves made him look like Didi Hamann's older, slower brother.

There may once have been a future for him but this team has raised the bar well above his level.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I'm all for a society where grown men can feel free to fantasise about wanking off famous footballers at the weekend, but personally it isn't my idea of romance.

I've just noticed he also called MJ 'fit'.

Michael Johnson completed 90 minutes as Leicester City Reserves beat their Derby County counterparts 3-2 yesterday.

The midfielder has been out of contention for first-team duty with soreness in a troublesome knee, but has been pencilled in for a return in the Carling Cup tie at Cardiff City next week, and looks set to meet that deadline.

Defender Tom Kennedy also returned from injury and completed over 70 minutes of the friendly at Belvoir Drive.

City fielded a strong side. Chris Weale started in goal, the back four was Matt Oakley at right-back, Kennedy at left-back and Lee Peltier and Sean St Ledger at centre back.

The midfield was Lloyd Dyer on the left, Frank Moussa on the right and Johnson partnering Yuki Abe in the engine room.

Jeff Schlupp partnered Steve Howard in attack.

It took City just four minutes to break the deadlock when Schlupp coolly rounded keeper Adam Legzdins to score.

Nathan Tyson featured for the Rams and he struck the post in the seventh minute when Weale spilt a shot from Tomasz Cywka.

City stretchered their lead when Kennedy picked out Moussa with a throw and the City midfielder finished at the second attempt.

Shortly after, Tyson reduced the arrears with an emphatic finish but Johnson should have restored City's two-goal cushion when he capitalised on a mistake in the Rams rear-guard, but fired over with only the keeper to beat.

City introduced three trialists at half time. French striker John Ayina replaced Howard and countryman Aristoti slotted into the back four, while Czech Republic defender David Balazovic replaced Oakley at right-back.

Ayina looked strong in attack and he went close 10 minutes into the half with a great effort which was beaten away by Legzdins.

Aristoti looked very strong in the centre of defence, and he left his mark on a few Rams players, including Tyson, with some crunching challenges.

Derby introduced 15-year-old striker Mason Bennett and he grabbed the equaliser in the 80th minute when Moreno failed to cut out 16-year-old Will Hughes' pass and Bennett produced a clinical finish.

But one of City's own young prospects, Tom Hopper, scored what proved to be the winner a minute later when Bruno Berner, who replaced Kennedy, produced a defence-splitting pass and Hopper smashed his shot past Legzdins.

The Rams had a great opportunity to salvage a draw late on but Stefan Galinski headed wide from a free kick when he should have scored.

CITY: Weale, Oakley (Balazovic 46), Peltier (Moreno 46), St Ledger (Aristoti 46), Kennedy (Berner 74), Moussa, Johnson, Abe (unknown 70), Dyer (Chamberlain 70), Howard (Ayina 46), Schlupp (Hopper 70). Not used: Lane (gk)

I dont understand the sh*ite MJ gets of some supporters, that they were fool enough to believe the fariy stories leaked to the press by "That c*nt" an his minions when he polluted the managers office is one thing* but to keep up the hate campain as he tries to rebuild his carear is stupidity of the highest level.

He was injured while playing for the club, he is still an outstanding prospect if he gets back to full fitness, and a fully fit MJ would walk into even our present set up, I for one hope he does get fit and return to the club, if you dont agree, fine, but get off the lads back.

*As per the MO of numpty`s mob, these stories followed the incident where the club doctor told MJ he was not fit and to rest up, when numpty told him to join in a practice match he pointed this out, numpty then went to the CEO and said the player refused to play (Leaving out that the club Dr had instructed him not to ), the Dr then put the CEO right, numpty was left looking like the c*nt he proved to be and the snide stories of boozing and drugs started...........and the club Doctor was forced out after 20 odd years.

He's from Bury, was in the pub a few weeks ago. Seemed like a nice guy. My mate mentioned he earns £5k a week, which for a footballer doesn't seem that much, but when I priced up how many weeks it'd take to get a Range Rover Sport it's still not bad.

Too many people saw MJ in action for all of the stories to be lies. He was also fat, which can't possibly have helped his rehabilitation as a footballer. Also, a fully fit MJ wouldn't walk into this side. A fully fit MJ may have got the odd game as a sub to try & prove himself when we were playing a slow, fairly negative style, half way through last season, but he probably lacks the power required to do a def MF role in this team & is nowhere near as good as our creative players in that role. He would, even if fully fit, have to improve 50 to 100% to get in this team.

If thats you opinion of him then fine, wrong but fine, its the slagging off of a guy who is still a City player for no reason other than some deluded idea MJ has done wrong to the club that gets me.

Yes he put weigh on, but he was forced into inactivity by the injury, and he likes a pint the same as a lot of players, but so what, do you think the club would not have noticed if he was a serious boozer?, I personally was in the company of another player a few years ago when there was a story run in the media of how drunk the guy was only two days before a big game, he had ONE pint and then went onto soft drinks all night, some people see a young lad with a very well paying job and the green eyed monster takes over.

And as he is still subject to regular drug testing as a pro football player, never mind around fittness coaches and medical staff almost every day, the same question of how nobody would notice applies.

For my money MJ is one of the finest box to box players I have seen in near 50 years of supporting City, he was being compared to Colin Bell by more than a few for good reason, my hope is he gets fit and returns to the club, then we will see if he gets in the team or not.

He was being compared to Colin Bell by idiots. He had hardly any of Bell's attributes apart from looking a bit like him from a distance. The comparison is ludicrous. Bell was faster, stronger, better at running with the ball, better at tackling, shooting, passing, heading the ball & fitter. If Johnson was even half the player Bell was, then he would actually get in the team. He wasn't & never will be.
