Good start or not, I'd still be thrilled with top three. As good as Aguero et al all are, there was a lot of turnover in the summer. As long as we maintain and look to full further away from Arsenal/Spurs/Liverpool then I'll be happy. Anything more is a bonus.

Understandable - but the main risk of the turnover was a dodgy start - from this point factors should work in our favour....

We will have the replacements when other lose their players to injury etc - we should be favourites in the betting - things look good unless we can destabalise ourselves from within

Anything but us getting FIFA to give him a long ban strikes me as a failure on our part.If we move him on in Jan then he has got what he wants. We should try and keep him banned whilst constantly adjourning the case or something that keeps him from playing IMO.I think Bob should keep him there in Manchester where he does not like it for as long as possible.

Fully agree.
Tevez wanted to play it tough. Let's give it to him.

I don't understand why people think we did ok v Napoli. Like the Bayern game, it was almost a textbook example of how NOT to play in the Champion's Lg. They had more opportunites to score than Bayern did but wasted them. It was a fucking appalling, naive in fact fucking clueless performance imo & we were lucky to get away with it. On another day, we would have let 4 goals in on the break. Luckily for us, they decided to shoot from 30 yards when in fantastic positions rather than take us to the cleaners as many teams would have done.

Re the Fulham game; if we miss the title by two points, those are the 2 points.

I hope we do but I'm starting to fear that we're not going to.

Sadly though that would have seen us top had we not collapsed the week before.

I'm nowhere near upset with this season so far, it's been brilliant. I do worry that titles aren't won on just really good seasons by our standards though.

Whilst I agree our approach to the 2 CL games has been naive I don't think we were as lucky as you make out against Napoli.Yes they could have scored more than one but so could we.I just hope we have learned the lessons and we will find out in the next 2 games which we have to win. A gung ho approach isnt the way to win them though.

As for the Fulham game I am tempted to say it was just one of those games which will inevitably happen but that would be wrong. A 2.2 draw can happen yes,but not in a game against a team like Fulham where we are 2 up and flying. I don't think that will define the season though as I reckon that will be how we fare against the top 6 teams.I want us to pull a surprise out somewhere to cover the 2 points lost at Fulham.

To even it up, either the rags have to draw at Fulham or we have to beat Stoke away. Then, on the head to head, we've got the ponts back. imo though, just matching the rags away total won't do it. If we beat them at OT, we may well be the only team to do so this season; everyone is shit scared of them & even when they have a stinker, teams just miss open goals & let them off the hook. When we have a stinker at home, someone wil beat us. We need to be clearly better than them in away games imo or we come 2nd.

Last year, we were good away from home & they were fairly shite by top of the league standards but still won the league because of their home form. No matter how well we play at home, I can't see us finishing ahead of them on home points as, like I said, they'll just get easy points no matter whether they play well or not. If & when we play as badly as they did v Norwich, teams will score 2 or 3 goals. The likelihood is we'll have one or two days in the season when we fuck up. They already have & they still won. After they play us, there's nobody left for them to play at home who's even likely to get a point. We still have to play all the top sides & every one of them will be much further into the season & play better v us than they did at OT.

I recon we'll have to be at least 5 or 6 points better than Utd in the away games, maybe more. Fulham was a really really bad result.

back onto the Tevez topic..........

just our fucking luck that if he had not lost the plot we could have had him on to replace Sergio at Ewood and he would be likely a starter at the weekend just when we need him - fucking great timing!!

I don't think we're going to miss him that much.

Front four of Balotelli, Silva, Nasri, Johnson should be more than enough for Villa, have Dzeko and Milner in reserve as well.

God I love our depth.
