I expect them to have a good go on Wednesday, and Saturday obviously. But i imagine we may face a similar team in both games.
In short. Wolves SHOULD be fucked.
Id like to see Hargreaves start, Savic, Panty, Kolo, AJ, Nasri... but i can also see us resting a few again for Saturday and maybe seeing some rotation players get a run out both tomorrow and saturday.
Again... shouldnt have a problem beating Wolves with any team we put out.
Anyone know which games are televised?
Wasn't it last season that McCarthy sent a 'weakened' team full of reserves and youngsters to play the Scum at the Swamp ?? His reason was that that game was a completely lost cause and he wanted to 'save' his better players for the more vital relegation games that he thought he could win.
On that basis, he might regard Saturday's League game against City's strongest (??) line up as a similar lost cause and only send another weakened side to Manchester. If that was his thinking, he might surprise us by playing his best side in the Carling Cup on the premise that a win is a win and good for morale, as well as raking in extra cash from a bit of a possible Cup run.
I know this is a bit of an upside down way of thinking, but who knows what's going through McCarthy's mind at the moment.
I don't think that so upside down thinking.. it is possibly more pragmatic tbh. However getting through to the next CC round while good for morale doesn't help their league campaign which is infinitely more important i would think to Wolves.. even a point could make a big difference at the end of the season. We've been there we know.
