Good question, I will revisit this thread in 8 months for the answer.

Am I the only person who doesn't understand why the media love this average player so much??1.)He failed to prevent West Ham being relegated
2.)He doesn't make it into the top 100 of the Player Performance Index
3.)He hasn't scored in the 8 games he has played this season.
4.)The Premier League's own Fantasy Football has him ranked 88th amongst midfield players
5.)He has only provided 1 assist this season (Micah Richards has 4)
So, what's so good about him??
What a stupid, stupid selection of stats.
1.) So what? Good players can be in bad teams. True
2.) Oh well point proven then... Not. Sarcastic replies do not make the facts any less valid.
3.) He's not a striker. Can only strikers score goals? Somebody had better tell Lampard, Yaya, Van Der Vaart, etc etc
4.) Because he plays a defensive midfield role, so isn't likely to score much and they only get 1 point for a clean sheet. Plenty of defensive midfielders (and defenders) create chances, score goals and help to keep clean sheets, so why can't Super Scotty do any of these?
5.) He's a defensive midfielder again. Micah Richards plays in defence but still creates chances for his team-mates, hence the comparison
Stats really prove fuck all. True, all stats are pointless, for example City have more points than any other team in the league but that means nothing; Slva has more assists than anybody else, doesn't make him a good player; we beat the scum 6-1, but that doesn't mean we are a better team, etc, etc

Wait wait wait, you've seen him play and you don't rate him?
I am fairly certain that KK is on a windup as it's an international weekend and the board needs someone to kick over a rock, but you have seen him play and don't rate him? Oh that's just sad.

Ok, I'll try to make it simple for you;In 8 league games he has scored only 1 goal = Not a good attacking midfielder
In those games he has only created 1 goal for his team mates = Not a good creative midfield player
Of those 8 games, his team have only kept 1 clean sheet = Not a good defensive player
If you take these facts as a whole rather than just picking 1 out that suits you, you will be hard pushed to tell exactly what it is that Super Scotty contributes to a team.

He's a defensive midfielder ffs. He's in the team to break up play and move the ball on, something that Spurs badly lack. Very much like Barry or Dejong for us. To compare him on the amount of goals he has is just fucking stupid. Lampard and Vdv have far more license to attack and hence get more goals.
Of those games Spurs have won 7, so clearly he is a good player.
Let's look at Clichy:
Hasn't scored a goal for us- clearly crap
Has barely made an assist- he must be terrible
Barely kept a clean sheet whilst he's been playing.
Y
Come on, I wasn't the only person back in March who failed to see what Yaya was adding to our side! Isn't hindsight wonderful eh!Rag_hater wrote: I think your previos with like what does Yaya do thread as the other guy mentioned suggests that perhaps your not seeing what quite a few of us others are.
Rag_hater wrote:Maybe your lack of faith in him is due to the fact that it seems your comparing information on him that does not show him at the top in the people your comparing him with.If you could find some stats that show other things I think that might help make a better judgement of him.

Me and NQDP called that...before he took the job.

Eh? But Clichy wasn't included in either of the Teams So Far and wasn't awarded the Football Writers Player Of The Year Award! What's your points?
As for Super Scotty, I know he is a "defensive midfielder ffs" that is why I mentioned his defensive record above.
