That wouldn't be fair as the people who sit there have bought tickets to watch the match, not stand up. All those people who want to stand & sing are being offered the chance to create atmosphere & have their own 'end' but don't want it because they'd rather shout at fat geordies. That's the problem. In the old days we used to get together & sing about City.[/qu

115/116 and 110/111 are the people that stand. No one sits in those areas Ted. Just move the away fans into that corner. Then you`ll have 4 blocks of fans that sing.

Moving the away fans is definitely a step in the right direction, but could maybe think of moving them round the corner (not sure of the block number, the first block or so in the East Stand). They would still be close to the singing section but it would let us have the whole of the South Stand. The fans that are there at the min are pretty noisy anyway so would be more likely to be happier with being moved into the South Stand than the fans who sit in the top tier.

We'd have to give it a proper trial tho as people need to get used to the new faces etc

I think he means just move the away fans into the area next to the Colin Bell Stand & move our fans out to where the away fans are now, to join the rest of the singing City fans. You would expect that to work but could the fans in 110 (11) bear to be that far away from the away fans ?

Cannot believe some of the stuff I'm reading on here. Is not having banter with away fans not part of going to the match. I tell u what. There ain't nowt better than taking shit off away fans then scoring. It takes it all up a level. Yeah I could easily sing without the away fans there. But it's even better when they are. Especially now when after years of being the butt of the joke we can dish it out. Put me in any section and I will sing. I'd say to anyone on here. Go in 111 or 110 for a game. U will love it. Anyone who doesn't needs to go home and call it a day with a packet of worthers original or go home to your boyfriend........ It's very simple this. If u think the ground is quiet, start singing. We do and hardly anyone else in other stands other than the south join in.

I hate to burst your bubble but on the whole you're not very loud so it just sounds like a few geezers in the distance singing. When you do actually create some noise, the rest of the ground does join in.

Home fans make the noise and set the tempo for the team, even when we get as last night a noisy visitor section we should not hear them for our own noise, both Rags and Scousers will bring 7/8,000 in Jan so we need to up our own volume for all games. Make it Blue murder for them to be heard. I visited Stade de Rennes last season and they out chanted PSG with 2 MINS OF RENNES everyone joined in, It was very loud and impressive. Every time PSG started up Rennes was heard all sides. Different class if you like that sort of thing, they were playing Paris so they are up for it big time.

These "South Stand/East Stand Singing section has bigger bollocks" theads are so tiresome.

I am 41 years old and now take 2 young kids age 8 and 6 to City with me, every week, just as my father did with me which is how I became obsessed with City. They love it, we shout and back the team but at their age myself, and the people around us, generally elect not to engage in shouting "You fat bastard" "you lucky bastards" or any of the other stuff that involves swearing in the general direction of the pitch which a large percentage of songs coming from The South Stand or 110/111 do. Call me boring if you want but generally thats called Parenting.

If you want to sing/chant, good for you. I applaud your support - however, it does not make you better supporter of City either. Just a different one, at a different time in your life. When you get older you might have a different insight.

I think alot of people are forgetting two very important points this season which has reduced the atmosphere in general. 1) We are all mesmerised by scintillating football on display. 2) We're more nervous about keeping pace at the top/expectant of 3 points every game therefore not surprised by drubbing Norwich 5-1.

Whereas before the football was mediocre so we made our own fun by singing loud and proud. Also we usually got battered, even by shit teams like Wigan AT HOME, so we were very defiant roaring out our best tunes when 0-3 down!

I say this because along with the people around me in 116 the atmosphere was plain weird for the Norwich game, it took us three goals to find our voice! Even the Townley which I expected to be rammed on arrival had a sparse crowd outside and space to squeeze around inside, which for this time of year is shocking.

I can't quite explain it but maybe the slow build up has affected our reactions to what we see compared to the traditional end to end full throttle English game. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't have Bobby play another way. Maybe instead of waiting for a chance to come or Blue Moon to ring out at the start we should rely on what City/English football fans do best, our spontaneity! Run through the classic songs and give the boys a beat to dance to.

Sorry for the long post.

So it has always been since football began; singing sections. There is a singing section which leads the ground. In the old days, it used to consist of a load of people standing together & singing songs about their team, which was very loud & the rest of the ground joined in. At City, it often got louder when we went behind.

Now, it involves a bunch of people having 'banter' with away fans & usually turns into silence when the game goes a bit dead. If the Kippax old Kop or old Stretford End existed in our ground, it would be deafening & the whole ground would join in with it. Away fans would be totally irrrelevant; it would be just as loud if there were none of them in the ground.

I stand by it the atmos is very poor. 110 do there bit no doubt, It is not seriously a great noise at City.

Am on about 5 different conversations here lads so am gonna leave it here. My point is this. If u want it louder, then sing. I do. For those who can't hear us, Mancini does cos waves when we sing his name, also de Jong and others always come to the corner to clap after the game. So as long as the players and manager hears us , I don't really care. To me (and I'm not aiming this at anyone) some people just like moaning. If everyone got up and sang the place would be even better. Even if we sound weak and quiet, try to join in. We ain't saying we better , bigger blues. If we gonna turn the place round, everyone gotta do there bit . I wouldn't change any banter for anything cos as iv pointed out, we sing loads of other songs.

Lets just face it.... our stadium is dog turd at generating an atmosphere.... yes on the odd occasion we can get the place rocking.

Remember Maine Road where most games there was a top atmosphere?!

The vocal fans are in the same relative position to each other seperated by the away fans, as they were at maine road.

It is the design of the stadium, the distance between the fans and the roof, and the angle of the roof etc. The North Stand at Maine Road was a single tier, much like the Kop, and the roof was a long roof that kept the noise in the ground.

The South Stand is two tiers, the second tier, from what I can hear, barely get involved because the noise from below doesnt really make its way up to the second, and not enough for to get them to join in. Also, notice how the roof is higher and slopes upwards, this pretty makes sure that a lot of noise is diverted upwards out of the ground, and not back down towards the fans/players/pitch etc.

The fans are not the issue, where the away fans sit is not an issue, its the design of the stadium that drastically affects our atmosphere.
