I remember the last time Bridge was given a chance in the left back berth as a first team player. I can't recall who it was against, but I definitely remember his appalling performance. Full back is a taxing role, requiring discipline, concentration, hard work, tactical awareness and selflessness. If you have any of those disciplines missing you can create all sorts of problems for not only the defence, but the team as a whole. Bridge that day had none of those things. I remember, vividly, how he got the ball at left back, then went charging off upfieeld - not up the wing as you might expect, but in a diagonal line straight into the middle of the pitch where he promptly (and obviously) lost possession. As a result, he left a huge gap where he should have been and we conceded a goal. I think we lost the match. Useless twat of a player.
Mancini is absolutely correct. Half way through the season, and he had shown absolutely no interest in finding a new club, and left to his own devices he'd still be "playing golf" (or shopping, or watching horse races, or doing a spot of DIY - they all boil down to the same thing) till his contract expired. The most notable thing he's done all season is to find a sympathetic anti-City hack at the Independent to whine to - and the Indie has plenty of those.
