Anyone??
Appeal formally lodged today and decision by tomorrow PM I would expect, with Wednesdays game in mind. These things are usually finalised within 24 hrs now - see Barton and Milijas of recent vintage. Unless Foy goes to bat for us and offers that he made a mistake, that red card wont be overturned.
If Foy admits he made a mistake then he'll personally be punished by the FA. The ban will stand because of this.

If he thinks he will get a ban for making that sort of challenge in the future it's bound to detract from his game.
City have today lodged an appeal with the Football Association relating to the red card issued to Vincent Kompany during Sunday's FA Cup tie with Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.
The FA have confirmed that a hearing will be held ahead of Wednesday evening’s Carling Cup semi-final first leg tie at home to Liverpool.

City have appealed against the red card and a hearing will take place the day before Wednesday's game with Liverpool.
A three-man Football Association commission will decide if Foy made an "obvious error" in dismissing the Belgian.

Seriously guys I think this is bigger than us. If a tackle is made in good faith without malice and the ball is touched first then I cannot understand the logic of a red card. A free kick is fair enough but in this risk free, health and safety, pc nanny state we live in surely a tiny bit of common sense would not go amiss.

dead right. It's not necessarily about getting the ball though. You could dive in from several feet away, with two straight legs, studs up and get the ball. You'd probably cripple the person on the other side of it, but you'd get the ball. Kompany's tackle wasn't that, though. One leg went in front of the ball to block it. The other one has to follow, but again, it wasn't straight, or next to the tackling leg, it came through behind Nani. It didn't scissor Nani either.
The rules state careless is a yellow and excessive force is a red. It certainly wasn't excessive force and it didn't even look careless - he knew exactly what he was doing.
No matter how many times I watch it, I think he's made a great tackle. Regardless of the ban or who he plays for, if that sort of tackle is to be outlawed, then I'm not sure what's left. To keep it City, to avoid any bias, de jong's tackle against Ben Arfa was much, much worse. I thought it was unlucky, in the way he caught Ben Arfa, but there was only one of those tackles you could want to be outlawed, if either

If Vinny's perfect tackle is deemed foul play then the game is dead for me.What are defenders supposed to do Tackle yes they are but if they do and make a perfect tackle but see a red card then the defender becomes redundant and no longer of use to his team.So in reallity the game becomes non-contact so all teams go out with 10 attackers and a goalie.God help us think i will start knitting.
