New Centre Half ?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Nedum is actually meant to be a centre back.

Pushed to right back to get games back in the day.

I dont fancy chucking him straight in, plus someone said he isnt named in our premier league squad. Not sure if that can be changed in the Jan window though?

It can be ammended, to adjust for transfer, injuries, etc. And IIRC we didn't fill out the entire allotment anyway in September.

Is Jihai Sun still in town?

Any chance we could drag him out of retirement?

No need for that. He is still playing in his home country.

Mancini bought savic for a reason.

If I'm honest I think he looks like a good player. The worry I have is he looks like he could get sent off or give away a pen or both. Made even more likely by the fact he is a city player.

He is very young though and I am hesitant to write him off and go for the panic buy. We don't want Cahill on £130,000 a week refusing to fuck off ala bridge.

The concern about somebody being sent off is very , very valid indeed.

I genuinely believe that if City were to play say , Micah, Nedum , Joeleon and Gail at back four tomorrow.

Even if it was a n other combination such as Zabs, Micah, Joeleon, Alex K, it simply would not matter.

If Clattenberg decides he's going to card a City player he will do it.

All along i have naively believed City playing football will win out , but this is simply not the case. Even when our players get
trashed in games, we are handed casual yellows ( eg Gaz Baz and Vinnie vs Wolves).

However, I think we must pull from within and not rush into purchases.

If it means we get other injuries or crazy red cards. James Milner played brilliantly in the second half after settling into the right back position in the second half.

You just know that Gerrard is going to go through with one of his two footers tomorrow and get away with it.....

Also watch Skrtel go for Mario or Edin tomorrow again ...... What's your betting the shirt pulling at corners doesn't get picked up again?

He IS in our squad, the person saying that had it wrong. Probably only because we HAD to put him in, you cannot leave out senior pros if you have vacancies. He did really well at Sunderland last season and could do a job now AND potentially add to his value.

And it wouldn't matter if he hadn't been named anyway because the 25 man rule doesn't apply during the transfer windows.

dealing one game at a time, we need someone tomorrow to handle Carroll. Vince did it brilliantly last week, so maybe that has to be Lescott's job, although that worries me, as he doesn't seem to like the physical side.

If it were me, I'd move Micah in to combat Carroll and have Savic/Zab at right back. I wouldn't mind seeing Ned at centre half either, but can't see Mancini doing it. Worst one would be Savic, who doesn't seem to have got the hang of the typical English centre forward yet.

I'd play Micah to combat Carroll with Lescott and put Zabs at RB if one of those three get sent off or injured then were bare bones.

I think Carroll would eat Savic for Breakfast,Micah is gonna have to get used to the armband and playing centre half for a while Savic can play against Wigan.

Cos he's one of those arsehols that seems t score against us. There are a few players that seem to do well against us. Cahill is another that springs to mind.

Onohua needs to be given a chance. Even if he's on the bench. We have enough defenders at the moment and don't need to panic buy! We have lescott Richards Savic and onohua who can all play centre back and then lots to choose from for right back too.
I would prioritise signing a striker rather than defender as we only have three and look very short at the moment. Drogba or Anelka would be perfect in my opinion!

We clearly need to play him just to pump up his value as much as need.

Nedum Onuoha is in big demand

Thursday 5th January 2012, 11:00AM GMT.
Nedum Onuoha is in big demand

Wolves and West Brom were today braced for a bidding war for Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha.

QPR and Wolves were today reported as both having made a £2.5m offer for the Nigeria-born stopper.

But although the 25-year-old remains a firm target of Wolves, they have denied making such an offer.

“This is not true – it’s complete speculation,” said chief executive Jez Moxey.

Albion have a long-standing interest in Onuoha and the club were close to signing the 25-year-old on loan in the last window, while Wolves’ interest was first reported in the Express & Star last month.

The Baggies were only planning to use the loan market this month, although injuries to Steven Reid and Jonas Olsson might force them to reconsider.

Bolton, Blackburn and Wigan, as well as Newcastle and Sunderland – where Onuoha spent last season on loan – have also been heavily linked with him.

The stopper has been made available on a permanent transfer this month by Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini.

But Lancashire sources say Onuoha is likely to be too expensive now for a move to the Reebok or Ewood Park.

Meanwhile, Bristol City boss Derek McInnes has denied any contact from Wolves over striker Nicky Maynard.

Reports say Wolves have offered £1.5m for the 25-year-old, who has been the subject of speculation after refusing to sign a new contract with his deal running out this summer.

But former Albion midfielder McInnes said: “There is no truth in these rumours.

“As things stand, we have still not received a single bid for Nicky Maynard.

“Players like him are few and far between and, of course, I want to keep him here if I can.

“I cannot control what other people do, but Nicky is a very good player and I want to work with good players.”

I disagree with people callin for Micah at cb to counter Carroll. I don't think micah could handle him to be honest. Micah's heading abilities are much more attack focused, and his positional issues contribute to ineffective heading on the defensive end. Carroll may be wank but what thing he is good at is positioning himself for ... And winning ... Offensive headers. It would be a total waste of Micah's strengths on the pitch

Agree with this... I think Mancini has already shown he has some degree of faith in Savic and in all honesty i dont think he's been THAT bad. Micah is a brilliant asset on the right hand side and to change that because we dont trust our centre halves to do a job seems a bit daft.

Its something we're going to have to get used to, and i cant see Micah starting CB for all four of those games VK is banned for.

One thing is for sure, its turning out to be an even harder month than we already knew it would be.
