The Borgs are the other way around. They assimilate the people they conquer into the Borg culture/society, they are not assimilated into the conquered culture.
Apart from that you're right. The Normans were often related to leading Anglo-Saxon families on the other side of the channel, and spoke the same language, although the Scandinavian the initial Normans spoke was quickly forgotten and replaced by French.
fuck me...you guys are smart on the topic....back to Bob's point, how did the French contribute to English and did i "forget" them by only calling out Conan the Barbarian and the Norse hordes as heavily influencing the English language?
