For instance Silva was poor today but nine times out of ten he delivers. Dzeko at times doesn’t seem interested or acts like a complete soft arse, I just can’t work him out. I know a strikers job is about scoring but they also need a work ethic to go with that and press from the front. Was Ian Rush not once described as Liverpool’s best defender and we know how successful a team he played in.
If you showed someone a video of Dzeko that had never seen him play and first did the Spurs game and then tonight’s they would never ever believe that they were the same player. That display against Spurs was one of the best individual performances I have seen from a blue, he terrorised Spurs and worked like a Trojan, what went wrong

This is the problem. When players who work their balls off have a bad one, it's easier to forgive.
If I had been Dzeko tonight, I would have been absolutely shattered & barely able to walk when I left the pitch, because I would have wanted to prove to Mancini that I am his best striker & I would have been running myself to death to do that.
If Tevez puts our shirt on again, he will almost certainly work harder than that & he has told us he doesn't want to play for us !

...and to Palus, That is why so many criticise Dzeko, he may score regularly but he offers so little else to the team and if he fails to score, his output is negative. Good goalscorer but a poor player.

I agree with you.
It really seems that he is not putting any effort.
But I wonder why? Maybe its not up to him - maybe he simply cant put any more effort that he did. Maybe he is just the way it is and thats final.
I believe it has something to do with the "trigger". After one good move from him, he lets himself loose and plays well. But when that "trigger" doesnt happen, he sees 60th or 70th minute and goes of without firing a bullet. Which is frustrating, for me as a fan.
Because I KNOW he can do much beter, I know he can.

He needs to wobble his head when it comes to Europe as we are not the same side. I love Mancini but this could be his down fall. We need to get a bit more nous especially when we go into the Champ's League next campaign. Another bow early out like this season will not be accepted I presume by the boys upstairs.
dazby wrote:Tevez just went to number 3 in the pecking order without having to kick a ball. Dzeko invited sooo much pressure on us tonight by not only losing the ball, but losing it in really bad positions. I wanted him to be our number 1, but he's really got to show something with the very limited chances he'll get now.

But I feel compelled to defend Dzeko again!
He was no worse than Aguero tonight..who I felt was garbage
And he is still one of the top scorers in the Prem
I admit he was gash tonight..but some of the over-reactions on here are comical
