And Dempsey the fourth best player in the country? Give over.
He has had a sensational season, all the more so given he plays for an unfashionable club. I have no argument at all with him being named
Dempsey or Scholes have performed better than than Hart, Lescott, Kompany, Aguero for starters ? More valubale to their teams over the season than Silva & Yaya Toure ?
I wonder if there are any stats to back that up ?
the problem honestly is that we've got 4-5 players who will split that vote, isn't it?
you could argue any one of Aguero, Silva, Yaya or Vinnie -- and legit shout for Hart as well. 5 players...most teams don't have 2 who would be a reasonable candidate.
cheers
I've read the Opta stats which have Lescott as the best English cb . I recon they'd also have him above all the other nationalities as well. If it was John Terry he'd have been amongst the favourites. That would be 6.
It shouldn't be based on club affiliation though so it should just mean that there are less votes for Scoles & Dempsey.
I've no problem with Rooney being a candidate because he & refs are the only reason Utd are challenging. The Scholes nomination is an absolute scandal though. He hasn't even been consistently good in the games he's played.
Whatever he does though, he automatically gets rated a minimum 7 out of 10. Richard Keys actually said yesterday that he thought Scholes should get the award, even though he admitted he hasn't been as good as Silva. Absolute joke.
