Cool, i'll probably do it then as I'll be signing up to all the cup schemes. Goodbye wages!!!
For me its a bit of something that makes you feel like you are getting something in return - when actually, you are not. I paid it last year as I didnt really look into it, but I won't be doing this year, it's just not worth it - essentially buying loyalty points.
I suppose it depends what you want the loyalty points for and where you stand now. If newer fans are thinking of paying the extra for the double loyalty points, consider this.
The top 5000 or so in loyalty points will have in excess of 6/7000 points, and therefore if you havent had an ST for decades, or never go to away games, you are never going to catch these people up. Thus, you will never be first in line for away tickets in the league.
The remainder who have had an ST at City for say the last 10 years, which I would say number well over 25,000 all have between 3500-5000, so again, you are not going to be catching those. Thus you will be a long way down the line for European aways, borderline whether you get a ticket for Wembley, and no chance of a European final.
It will take the best part of 10/15 years before you are even approaching the first tier of lngstanding ST holders, let alone those at the very top of the tree, whom you will never catch cos they will always attend more aways than you.
I fit at the top of that middle bracket on about 5000 points, safe enough for a Wembley seat, reasonable chance of away tickets and a european final seat, but not for the more in demand away games, and I will go to enough aways/cup games to keep those behind me at bay, so there is little point paying an extra £50.
