I think it would be more Shearer, Barnes and Beardsley, Lineker at a push.
just been listening to radio according to form stuart pearce rang micah richards asked him would he go on the stanby list and he said no. i think he expected roy to ring him. jordan henderson would be franks replacement.Beefymcfc wrote:Falling apart at the seams?
Johnson - Toe infection.
Barry - Torn stomach muscle.
Lampard - Not sure yet but going for scans tomorrow.
Anyone else?
Who's next and who's the next to get called up in their place - Carrick, Micah?

I've heard this, too. I'm wondering whether he intends to make himself available for the Olympics. He'd have to be an overage player though (misses the cutoff by 6 months, I think), and, providing the Olympics aren't in so much of a financial dire that they have to call up Beckham to flog a few shirts, may be in with a chance of the captaincy.
Certainly, the prospect of playing for Britain in Britain beats warming the bench for England in Ukraine.

I struggle to think of another English midfielder, other than Scholes, who is good enough. And THAT is the problem.
To be honest, Milner shouldnt really be good enough for England, not unless he can be moved into the middle to be the engine room
Joe Cole will be back at this rate, and Michael Owen.
Just shows how far we've come in the last 10 years................

Carrick should be in the squad ahead of the rest of the midfielders, problem is(and i can see his point) is that he didnt want to go on the standby list and train with the squad from last week on and then have to wave goodbye to them at the airport as they went to Ukraine while he went home.
Hodgson should of named a squad of 30 and worked with them up to the deadline inc richards and carrick and then at deadline assess everything and make a decision on his squad, would of gave players time to impress and would of made the standby players feel like they werent wasting their time(eg A.Johnson, he goes home while lads go to Euros now)
