The way Lescott has been systematically ignored by the media & by football people in general is bizarre. There was a recent game where Hansen was extolling how well City's defence had played but it was like 'Kompany was fantastic' & a complete blanking of Lescott even though the two put in an almost identical performance. He didn't even mention his name as being on the pitch.

I can only assume that 99% of the world's pundits must have slaughtered Lescott when we signed him & now refuse to aknowledge anything he does which is decent because it goes against their original viewpoint.

One thing's for sure though; unlike Jones, Smalling, Terry etc, if he makes one single mistake in this tournament every fucker will mention it over and over and over again.

He has been absolute quality this season.

Pre match yesterday carragher had said he'd preferred jagielka to play with terry so terry could stay in his natural left sided spot. If anything it should have been terry dropped to accomodate jagielka.

My one problem with lescott is just how poor his distrubition can be. But as others have pointed out before he's there to defend not spray 50yard passes.

The reason Lescott was so good the past two years, was because he was a serious fucker in and outside the pitch. Many "experts" in the media said we made a mistake, that he isn't good and so on, but Lesco stood there and waited and when he had his chance, he took full advantage of it.

This is a pure example of how every day work will help your career.

PS: Call me crazy, but i wouldn't be upset on him, if his mistake with QPR was decisive in us losing the title. He had to many good games, to do that to him.

Him and Vinnie are the best pair in the world. Fact.

I would have forgiven him for that too but it wouldn't have made any difference as the majority would have hung him & imo he would never have recovered from it. He would just have become a Klingon Savic.

Re this business of his distribution; it's all bollocks imo. There is no difference whatsoever between him & Vinny apart from Vinny tries to be Beckham on occasions & makes a twat of himself wheras JL knows he can't, so doesn't. Their stats are very similar.

I don't want centre halves thinking they are footballers personally. They are not, even the ones at Barca. If they start trying to be clever they lose the ball. The midfield should take the ball off them, end of story. If then they play a decent one two on occasion, or make a little run, well done to them, but it's not needed if the midfield do their job properly.

If you watch defenders running with the ball, 9 times out of ten it looks good & everyone gets excited, then they fall over or give the ball away & get a big round of applause for almost doing something Silva does in his sleep. They are defenders.

I think that's a myth.

his distribution is a good as any defender we have. Better than Vinnys for sure imo.

a very large part of me wanted him to be struck down by lightning...and then chased out of town with pitchforks and torches after being painted green and having bolts installed into his neck.

Thankfully, it didn't come to that.

cheers
