I thought he took his goal very well but was otherwise ineffective. Acceptable as long as he keeps scoring.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

I certainly have nothing against the kid other than his muneliness. Seems like a good lad and works his bollocks off.

Definitely meant it and there's no sour grapes from me whenever England win.

That's ok I thought I may have been suffering amnesia. :-)

He's likeable for a Rag. Not the most blessed technically but has improved considerably since I first saw him play, obviously listens to his coaches because he always seems to make the right runs, knows when to hold it up, when to lay it off, runs the channels well etc.

You could tell that he intended to do it by watching him in the slow motion replay, he's looking where he wants it to go before it gets there - he was probably lucky to get that result though. And what the fucl was he doing with his back to goal in the first place?

Course he meant it although 7 times out of 10 it might not have gone in.

Give the lad his due. He's had shit service both games but still looked lively. Still developing but I for one am happy to see the future England side being built around players like Welbeck.

He just doesn't have the pace to be a winger and it's hardly like his crossing ability makes up for it. I mean he is ok at crossing but nothing special.

He is there because walcott doesnt know how to defend, milner protects the ovrrlapping fullback which gives the team something extra.

A winger first and foremost is an attacker. Walcott offers much more than Milner does on the wing.

Milner is a right-sided midfielder in Woy's England set up, not a winger, and thus offers the team more balance in the respect that he can defend as well as attack. I agree that Walcott offers much more going forward but I think he would only start under Hodgson if England were playing someone like San Marino where we would hardly be defending. I think that Hodgson sees this England squad as being limited in terms of ability (as I do) and this along with the harsh media treatment he received when appointed as the manager has led him to adopt a more cautious approach to selection and tactics as he knows that a poor result will lead to a media outcry and severe criticism (something that Twitchy, the tabloid darling, never would have had to put up with).

I think Bart Wellbeck meant the back heel but i don't think for one moment he thought he would score.

I think he got lucky with his one attempt on goal in the last two matches. Squad player at best for England.

If Walcott starts five games he'll stink the place out in 4 of them. Impact player, ideal for putting on against tired legs.

Ah but Milner can cover at right back, so makes up for that fact that Johnson is shite as proved late on, when both Johnson & Walcott were waltzed around like they'd been hit with a freeze ray

I read about this in yesterday's Mail, '7 Things We Didn't Know About Welbeck', and it stated:

He was rejected by Manchester City as an eight-year-old. 'City custard-pied me as a kid,' he said in March this year.

Yet, on Wiki it states that he signed for the Rags when he was 6:

Born in Longsight, Manchester, England, to parents of Ghanaian descent,[5] Welbeck was first spotted by Manchester United as a six year-old.

Well, one of them is wrong!

It doesn't matter either way because he'll never be good enough to play for City, so it's better that he's at a club which can give him games.

And so will Milner. Only difference is Walcott can make something happen. Milner's a center midfielder. Drop Parker and put him there.
He's been played as an orthodox right winger and he just looks so ordinary, he doesn't have the pace or crossing ability.

Milner is mainly there as an extra defender because Hodgeson hasn't got a decent right back.
