He is definitely NOT aguero.

Thank fuck he stayed at the rags to steadily decline and ride out his 200,000+ a week contract.

Any keeper with 2 consecutive golden gloves (one beating van der sar who was an absolutely world class keeper) in the best league in the world is world class. We haven't jumped the gun with joe he just is world class.

I think that Rooney is often a world class player when playing for his club. Over the years there have been very few players City have faced who have been consistantly better than Rooney & in the last few seasons he has almost won the rags the league on his own.

For England, he is mid table standard.

The same could be said during the careers of Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes, even Michael Owen in his earlier days.

Add Beckham, Ferdinand, Terry, then Ashley Cole. Most of these players have overlapped in their England careers. If you offered their clubs a direct swap for the players in Germany or Italy's team NONE of the Germans or Italians would be chosen, not one.

What do you get when you put them together ? SHIT.

That is wrong, terribly wrong.

Yes he's had 2 very good years for us in the Premier League but labelling him Wold Class already is an example of how we jump the gun in this country in regards to our players. When he's done it a couple of years longer, and on the top competitions and business end games (Champions League, Interntaional tournaments), we can label him as such.

Perform at the top level for a longer period, and do so in the latter stages of either the CL or an international tournament. I'd say that would cover it. Players who are genuinely world class - eg Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo, Buffon, Casillas - have done that and have the CL or international winners medals and/or finals appearances to prove it, and have done for longer than the 2 years Joe's been playing at a high quality level. Yes he's been very good for us, but I think its fair to hold the term "world class" to a slightly higher standard, dont you? Its a phrase thrown around far too often in football circles.

For a supposed "rag hater" that's outrageous comment.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Alan Shearer, Jimmy Greaves, Tommy Taylor were all better, even if you only mean strikers. Among England footballers in general Rooney is way down the list.

Nope. World Class implies what it says. Joe hasnt demonstrated that nearly enough at Champions League or international level to deserve of that label.

The penalty that Buffon saved was a shocker, really poor. Italy were just better at taking penalties. Hart did put one player off.

I think Buffon's been around for more than 1 shoot-out which is what I was also alluding too. Didnt he take part in one in 2006 that resulted in Italy winning the World Cup?

Er , just cos the Sun publish crap , it does not mean you have to accept it as fact. Ditto the Mail with it's Sportsmail Reporter. Even our own MEUN has lost the plot The press in Britain has been garbage since at least when the Sun became a tabloid.

Rooney's grey matter must be working overtime. he sits on the bench and watches his fellow United attacking team mates play awful ( granted... Wellbeck's got a nice heal on him!) .

He sits and watches this crap and when he finally starts he plays badly as well. He can't even dribble past a defender anymore. He's off pace, out of sync and rapidly losing his bite, his ability to play.

If Ferguson is the great manager we are led to believe, he would sell him now to Madrid or anyone for as much as his reputation is apparently worth. This 'United ' attacking three , have been exposed outside the PL. They are average at best and simply awful .

Wooney's shin pads are still a prized asset , sell Fergie the sky is falling
