I was just wondering what constitutes racial abuse anymore, or ever, for that matter. I played a lot of football in New Zealand, England and Scotland and was constantly referred to as a 'mick' or 'paddy' bastard, cunt etc. does this carry the same weight as black or is it just colour that is appropriate these days?
Very valid point. I also have the feeling that anti-racism is the new black (pardon the pun) in football.
In a year or two the whole establishment has probably moved on to the next PC-flavour-of-the-day, and we will have Gerrard on trial for calling Joey Barton a faggot.
I get a bit synical about all this shit, there is no difference in calling a person from Ireland a mick or paddy or a black person black is there???? Racism is something completely different, to me, and I stress the point, to me, racism is not allowing someone to vote or sit on a bus seat seat or refuse them employment or have a different set of values or standard than everyone else is entitled to, it's not calling someone a black or honky or mick cunt in the middle of a football match...maybe I am wrong... I am sure I am about to be told, but personally I lament over the pc brigade nearly as much as the health and safety brigade, we now are told to live our lives by the minute percentages as opposed to the norm and businesses such as solicitors and insurance companies are laughing at how good a job they have done.[/quot
My mind set is about the same as yours over this topic.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"
