He was ready & willing to play for City & has been discarded. He is entitled to seek the best deal for himself & to wait til the last day of the transfer window to get it. He owes City nothing & there is no reason whatsoever he should accept a drop in wages just to make it easier for City to sign players. If I was him, I'd take great delight in fucking over Mancini & Marwood as much as possible.
Mind you, Blake Carrington, JR Ewing & Silvio Berlusconi post on here, & they would have had him out of the door no problem.
Have You all ever happened to wonder why Bayern Munchen, Real Madrid, AC Milan, English Zip, Italian Zip, Barca have very rarely, if ever, required for ransoms? and in case this ever happened, what happened next to the carrer of that (hypothetical) greedy agent?
and, Do You all are seriously convinced that, dr. Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak
a man, whose abitilies and qualifications would make him eligible to drive the Federal Reserve or the BCE, is so damned scared of the pathetic FFPR up to the extent to not spending £50 mils. when MCFC's revenue has been geometrically boosted by the EPL title??? leaving alone the fact that he is backed by a Ruling Family thhat is in the position to influence and drive more than several votes which grants the power of mr. Josep Blatter?

Which one am I??
I don't disagree with the analysis re Adebayor and he is entirely within his rights to sit at City and pick up his wages and/or wait for the right deal for him. I would equally take some delight in his position in creating problems for those who had discarded me.
However, in light of our need to get him out of the club permanently and the fact that he will likely have to take a pay cut to some degree at his new club we should be playing on his desire to be playing football and receiving the corresponding adulation, attention and love he craves and coming up with some kind of severance solution where we essentially pay him a lump sum up front.
It does stick in the throat to say that we should have given him a portion/large portion of the fee Spurs were going to pay us...but if we'd agreed that up front and been sensible about it we wouldn't see the deal collapsing when his side demand that at the 11th hour.
I've no issue with the fact that you, John and anyone else (apart from that sanctimonious twit in pat pong) who can have a reasoned argument on these subjects disagree with me and DM but the fact of the matter is that both of our viewpoints come from a background where we both have pretty bloody significant experience of dealing with negotiating, managing and concluding transactions. You can say that we are basing our views and gripes on "nothing" as we don't work at MCFC but frankly that is bullshit. We both have enough experience of very similar types of processes to understand what should be happening and what very clearly isn't. In any event, I'm not asking you to agree with us but similarly don't expect us to agree with your PoV which I think is fundamentally flawed.

Yes.
ant london wrote:Ted; with respect....you have fuck all idea about what I have experience of and the parallels that can be closely drawn to these kind of deals. I know that I know what I'm talking about here and you can think what you like; it's your opinion and you know we are not agreeing on this.
That said, I completely agree that Marwood is obviously subject to Khaldoon's direction it is not the "tough" policy I have any issue with but the bumbling handling of the process. And don't come out with the "you don't know what's happening" shit again, none of us "know" but we can hazard a pretty good guess and he is clearly not very good at the deal side of things.
Don't have any issue with him in the other aspects of his role which he does appear to be doing a good job at but player purchases and sales...in my opinion....he is not cutting it. Mancini has been involved with the player acquisition process at several clubs and he clearly doesn't think Marwood is doing a good job either.

Indeed they did & his reputation in the game for doing so is second to none. But of course Marwood will have been somehow preventing him from doing it. We don't know how, we don't know why, we just know.
