Ben Arfa has been tricky and lively today. This might be a big season for him.

scores from the penalty too, 2-1 Barcodes!

If dippers had scored the first goal it could've been 3-0 the other way. Suddenly Gera scored with a thunderbolt and they went into HT 1 up. when Agger was sent off Liverpool just.. seemed to give up. even tho the first penalty was missed they never got back into the game again and as they pushed on there was lots of space for baggies to exploit. that's how I saw it

cheers Mate.
very much appreciated.
I do rate Rodgers and I am very curious to see if he, and his assistant on the pitch (Joe Allen) can re-establish the football at Anfield, after King Kenny...
Obviously also interested because they will be our next opponent, sadly already under quite a pressure.
many thanks for your kindness.

Yeah, Suarez had a load of good chances. Could have been different. Defending on both sides wasn't good.

On the available evidence I wouldn't have said that Liverpool are a better team than West Brom. Liverpool were rabble in terms of organisation in defence. Agger's red was pure stupidity from him.

West Brom worked hard to close down Liverpool when they were passing out of defence and won a lot of quality possession.

It looked to me that Liverpool were definitely the creators of their own downfall. Lot's of sloppiness and giving the ball away - this often came from trying to play it around. The second penalty - you could tell that Skrtel had in the back of his mind 'i have to pass this out'....he got caught thinking and conceded possession and panicked. It's clearly not second nature for a lot of their players at the moment. Its gonna take some time for Liverpool to develop confidence in this way of playing.

They just need to patient with Rodgers. All of Liverpool's players are clearly capable of playing possession football - in fact 99% of the premiership's players are. It's just a confidence and habit thing. They can all control a ball and pass it, but its just not instinctive to do that as theyve often been taught a different way. However it CAN be learnt. Look at Lescott as an example. When he first joined City he was terrible when it came to playing nice simple passes. You could see his Everton/Wolves instincts urging to play it long to the big guy upfront. However, over time, and with excellent coaching he's clearly improved at this side of his game. He's a much more rounded defender than he initially was.

Lescott doesn't have any more natural ability than Agger or Skrtel. He's just be educated well, and given time and gained confidence as he fitted into the system. They could do it too...they just need to be given time to play that way. As do all of Liverpool's players....i'd be surprised if they, well Rodgers, was given that time though.

I doubt Gerrard is going to internalize the patient simple passing game Rodgers is working on. He was arguably the most uncomfortable Liverpool player out there today & it's hardly surprising given his natural style of play. He always looked like he wanted to just go for it, when he had the ball. He had to restrain himself to not just run with the ball & whack it. He had the worst passing accuracy as well (82%), even worse than Borini who was rubbish on the whole, while Allen had the highest (96%), even with the most long balls (all accurate).

I've said before; Gerrard, Beckham, Lampard. All 3 should have taken over the England midfield, told the manager they were going to pass & move & had England as serious contenders. Instead, all 3 want to be fucking heroes & are only interested in showing everbody how good they are.

IMO, Phil Dowd bottled yesterday's game. I never show love for the Scouse but I have to admit that those two penalties were the softest I've seen in a while. Agger simply nudged Long an he went down so easily. Skrtel didn't kick into Long intentionally.

But anyway, what's done is done. I don't give two shits about the rest of the fockers. Come on City!!!

Agger pushed him in the back, deliberately. Liverpool players don't get away with that anymore at Anfield, so they shouldn't keep doing it.

I've just seen it & I can't believe they are complaining about it.

Agger was fucking diabolical; you DO NOT defend that situation like that. Utter shite. Why the fuck Bob wants him, I've no idea.

If you see the incident from an earlier starting point you see Skrtel falling while out of position which causes the hole in defence that Agger has to try and cover, I'd say skrtel is as much to blame for the situation as Agger (not Skrtel's fault Agger shoved him in the back obviously).

Scrotal made a mistake but Agger was in position to get across. Instead, he slowed down, allowing the bloke to get goal side & then knocked him over. It was pathetic.

Sure, and if Agger had attempted to play the ball, I'd have had sympathy for him (like Kompany's red). His only hope was a totally blind ref or to do it properly outside the box. There were too many defenders being knocked on their arse yesterday.
