Fuck knows.

Football crowds have changed for the worse though - correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you used to have to lose a few in a row, probably with an horrific lack of effort and guile, to get booed off at home?
Which seems to be the standard response for an unfortunate draw with a top ten side now...

I'm amazed all these doom and gloomers didn't just kill themselves during the Frank Clark years to be honest... don't know they're born.

I thought we played some good stuff under Brian Horton, however, you are right, we must never forget those dark dark days

I actually like the football we're playing under him. Interesting hypothetical question: Would people rather see a Hughes side finish 6th with the football being played, or a Pearce side finish 5th? I'd go for the former, in all honesty.

me too as 5th and 6th place is identical for Europa league placing. this difference is money for finishing position which is not a problem to us.

Brian Horton was good for the club, his only crime not being a big name manager that alot of fans thought we deserved after the previous muppets. Played some attactive attacking stuff as well, almost keeganesque in his policy of 'we'll score more'. Pisses me off when he's lumped in with the othe clowns mentioned above. Another classic Swales feck up not giving him time. He was great blooding our youngsters as well.

I'm glad you already know the identity of the Carling Cup winners and FA Cup finalists. Perhaps you can share them with me then I can get some juicy bets on?

Us, of course...although not sure who we will be beating in the FA Cup Final, long way to go yet, could be anyone.

Definitely. We played some amazing stuff under Horton. I'll never forget the Spurs 5-2. City were unbelievable that day. Amazing game. It was total attacking football with Beagrie and Summerbee on fire down the wings.

Frank Clark was definitely the worst in every way IMO. I know Ball was shite, but under Clark, not only were we crap, but the football we played was miserable! It was fall asleep shit. SO bad!

Totally agree! Rosler, Quinn and Walsh with Beagrie and Buzzer Jr on the wings and Lomas and Flitcroft running the middle of the park. Was just when I started to go and watch City as well.

Manchester city's record under Brian Horton :

P 96 W 29 D 33 L 34

The stats show you lot are just being nostalgic. We were crap.

Yeah, it's easy to not give a manager time, sack him and sit there happily talking about how he was as crap as all the other ones.

Mark Hughes is a vision guy, he does all the little things that in the long run will hopefully add up to a lot of success. Sometimes that strategy fails or succeeds, the common thread is that some people will never have the patience.

Some managers can come in and win matches without even giving a team talk (as Roy Keane did when the mere announcement of his appointment ended Sunderland's losing streak). Doesn't mean they can offer anything more in the long run.

Through the years we've often looked and laughed at how fans still drunk on success turn against managers because their expectations have risen faster than the team and a temporary slump in form is seen as the sky falling down. There's plenty of talk about Arsenal's lack of trophies in an era when they've done well to hang in despite being way behind in spending and have played some excellent football and had some excellent results too.

i like mark hughes and i dont really see where the negativety comes from were 6th with a game in hand that if we win will put us 4th we'll beat hull and liverpool and after chelsea we can beat every team we play up until the end of february and by that time arsenal will have had there usual drop and be strugglin and liverpool already look fcuked obviously we wont win every game till then but we'll be in the top 4 and if we are in the top 4 by february i wonder how many threads there will be wantin sparky out.

At what point did we become like the rags complaining about a few draws i mean come on STILL WERE MANCHESTER CITY JUST BE GRATEFUL FOR WHAT WEVE GOT AT THE MOMENT AND BE PATIENT WE'LL GET THERE SOONER THEN ANY OF US THOUGHT 2 YEARS AGO
