Scott Sinclair on Tuesday.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Underwhelmed. English or not, pace or not, he'd be fourth choice at Swansea behind Dyer, Routledge and now Hernandez.

I really don't understand why he'd come, nor why we'd pay lunatic wages to someone who's less talented and likely to play less than Johnson did.

Well umm....

I really don't understand why he'd come: Champs League/not having to live in Wales.

why we'd pay lunatic wages to someone: Will be on less than Johnson, more than at Swansea, he knows he is a backup (maybe better to say rotation option).

likely to play less than Johnson did: No, likely to play the same amount as Johnson, clearly the lad believes in himself as do our scouts, he wants to step up, we need some genuine pace. This move suits all parties imo.

As ive said earlier in the thread i hope he does really well, but slightly underwhelmed by this. probably because ive been spoilt rotten by signings over the years.

its gone from jovetic to sinclair. Oh well im sure it'll be a good edition to the squad.

4th choice is a strange one.He started 38 games for Swansea last season.

How has he suddenly fell behind Routledge all of a sudden?

Fair point. I based it off reading not606 where global opinion is that the other three are better options (assuming Hernandez settles). They say Sinclair was great in the Championship but looked a limited player last year who didn't entirely make the step up, despite game time.

And to the other post, didn't he leave Chelsea because he wasn't playing at a Champions League club? And didn't Johnson leave because he wasn't getting anywhere enough game time?

If he does well, I'll be thrilled - he's cheap, fast and British, so it could work - but SWP and Johnson were cautionary tales.

Swansea have confirmed it's done.

Probably because he has made it clear he wasn't going to sign a new deal. No point developing a system around outgoing players.

I read very similar things on Sinclair, however I get the feeling some of the negativity surrounding him from Swansea fans is due his inevitable leaving. He will do a solid job here and give us the pace we sorely need but I doubt he will be any better than AJ.

He just represents a younger, cheaper, quicker, less moany, less boozey option. So in many ways I am quite happy.

Like Johnno was, he is here as an impact sub, to play in lesser cups, cover injuries and help us hit the homegrown quotas.

No risk signing this imo.

Have not followed too closely and I know that some will be underwhelmed - although I think that he could offer the same (but slightly different) option that Johnson could have - except be less vocal about being an impact player

And if it is true (not sure myself) that Swansea tried to get heavy with us then perhaps Marwood or someone deserves some positive comment?? Some seem to be willing to put the boot in without any clear evidence of mistakes - perhaps this is clearly eveidence of something more positive ?? so should deserve comment?

I wanna congratulate mr. Marwood for having took almost a month and 60% raise of the intial market value to sign an impact player: that in my books it's even better than waiting two months untill Chealsea players sacked the manager and went all out to win the Champions League.
Not sure if such a remarkable acheivement will be tied if/when Nigel DeJong will be scraped for £ 5mil or, maybe, released as a free agent.

Sudden link with Theo Walcott seems to have made Mr 'Hard-nosed' Swansea Chairman think again. Funny coincidence, that!

good squad player - don't agree that he would have been 4th choice winger for swans - he played pratically everygame and scored 8 goals and helped create a shitload more last season so not sure how you arrived at that conclusion

It looks like Maicon is done according to their owner, Nasty waiting for work permit, plus Javi Garcia coming in to replace DeJong.
