Whether he has the club awareness to make the right purchases in the market with him being removed from that side of the job for so long is another matter.
Add to that he is 63 now and we need a manager who can(given they succeed) stay in the job for a decade and I think he would make the wrong choice. We are definitely following the filth's guide to success in having a youngish manager who can set this as his legacy in football management. Honestly if we could get past the disgusting human being he is, would you really want Taggart as manager knowing he has at best 3 more years in charge?
He didn't do too badly at Chelsea in resurecting their season and getting them to the brink of European glory.
The last three roles he has had (South Korea, he did superb with to get them to the SF of the WC), Australia (got them to the WC Finals for the first time in christ knows how long, and was cheated out of it by a ref who decided 3 yellow cards meant red this time!) and then Russia....granted he should have done more with them, given the talent available to him....or percieved talent.
The trouble with managing National sides to a club side, apart from the obvious of not working with them as often as you would like, is that he can only select players born in that country, Capello is suffering the same fate with England in that he is forced to select the likes of Brown, Foster, Bridge, G Johnson, Jenas and Heskey, as England themselves simply don't have enough quality players to take their place of the needed ability level.
I think with some of the best players in World Football (Robinho, Tevez, Adebayor, SWP etc) he would make us solid at the back, creative when required in attack and get us climbing the table in no time.......the only box that needs ticking, is the one to request Hughes's P45 through the post, I hope Kool Khaldoon is doing that as I type this, and hands the pink slip to the pathetic RAG before we kick off at weekend.
We have been given a great opportunity to acquire a top class manager NOW!, lets grab it with both hands I say.
