Silva is struggling to maintain his standrds week in week out both for City & Spain & it's obvious that is the case. We need backup for him but backup for Silva means signing one of the best players in the world & that's both difficult & expensive. This is the reason I was gutted when we didn't sign Hazard. If we'd signed him, I think we'd be on maximum points now & may just have beaten Real Madrid.
We have to find a player of that type & quality to complete the squad, otherwise we have a weakness in that area.
In the meantime, I don't understand why Bob feels he has to start Silva in any games at all. Start with Yaya In Silva's position & put 3 solid players behind him + 2 strikers in front of him v the better teams ( Imo, we would have hammered Arsenal & Liverpool with that set up) & play Tevez+Yaya + 2 strikers against the bus parkers. With the right organisation, those players can give any team on the planet a game. We really should be able to beat most teams without relying on Silva.

The only problem i can see is his passing range seems to have deserted him thus far this season. At times last season he could split defences at will with precison perfect passes. He is having no problem getting himself on the ball but when he trys the killer pass it's just not happening for him.Time and again he is passing to the opposition conceding possesion and it's causing us problems.

He hasn't had the passing options that he had last year cos the strikers/midfielders have been less than perfect in their movement off the ball or injured. And, like it or not, we did miss Nasri in this respect at weekend; he also takes some of the onus away from Dave.

I think a lot of it has to do with the point raised in the other thread, I don't see us maintaining any lengthly period of possession. Everrything is rushed, last year Dave would keep the ball until an opening was made. This year he's trying to force the opening resulting in us losing possession.
