I'm surprised people are heaping praise on Razak relative to Suarez. Razak was more involved yes, but from where I was sitting he was more involved negatively that positively. Dwelled, miscontrolled, mis-passed, created scoring opportunities for Villa. Yeah he showed the odd flash, but if that was me out there, I'd be extremely pissed off with myself, given that there is quality under there which was outweighed by shite.
Razak was on his own in midfield though almost all night. Barry clearly wasn't fit (so why did he play in Madrid?). Milner was pinned back when we had 3 at the back and then went to right back. Suarez was mostly anonymous and Kolarov scored a free kick and apart from that he, er, can't think of anything.
I'd like to see Razak get some games in a proper midfield when the team is performing before passing judgement. If last night is all he's gotten he's not good enough, but there were flashes there providing he can learn from his mistakes
The midfield was much much much worse with Milner & Barry compared to Razak & Barry (apart from Razak getting caught in possession). Conditions were bad & Milner, Tevez, Barry & most of Villa's midfield all passed the ball worse than Razak.
That Kid Suarez i catch him only few times because we dont have cups here until it s close to be over , i like him he had nice work rate and hes quick all that u need for let say next Silva , do he have that quality u watch him more.Is there a game that he shine .
Suarez did very little wrong & a few nice touches but he didn't contribute to the game, wheras Razak was sometimes excellent & sometimes shite but was very very involved, pretty much all the time.
Re Rekik. From the little I've seen of him, I would expect him to be better than Nastasic by the time he is 19 & I would think that he's as good or better now, but I would be very wary of playing him in the first team. What do we do with both of them though ? Both are almost good enough but not quite ready imo. I think Rekik could be something truly special IF he continues to progress though & he must be either playing regularly for us or for someone else in order to learn his trade. Same with Nasti; we have to play him in some games now we have signed him & going out of the League Cup means that we will have to risk harming the team to get them upto speed. I suppose we could play the pair of them in every single EDS game to make sure they are sharp if/when called upon.
The only other option is to loan both of them out & use Micah as cover for CB.
Suarez made the point that, if we were in Spain, City would have a B team playing in the 3rd division & that the players would then be able to learn to play together in the style of our club at a decent standard rather than be sent out on loan. This interview, imo, was a veiled warning from him that he could leave if he doesn't get higher standard football. I think he's right to consider that.
As we can't replicate that in this country, it's imperative that this new Premier Reserve League takes off imo. I think that, at that level, the constant changeover of players should be lessened & the very best lads should be given the chance to learn their positions in a replica of the 1st team, as Suarez says. They need to be sharpening up their skills for top level football in a competitive environment. At the moment, any old player in any old position seems to be the norm at City (mind you that might be good training for our first team! Arf.) I agree with that at lower levels but this EDS needs to be a proper team containing only the very best players, mainly in their correct positions imo.
Another option is to take over a team abroad.
