To me he's looked overawed trying to protect us against teams that dominate possession. Not surprising that.
He's not been as bad as people think in my eyes. Room for improvement would be my score.

My thoughts exactly.

Personally, I'll take him over Rodders right now...
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

Said it before and i'll say it again. Saw him quite a bit for Benfica, he's a really good player and will improve. Not totally at the races so far, but it will always take players time to adapt, remember how much dislike there was for De Jong when he first arrived? It wasn't really until his first full season that he showed what he was capable of after signing in the January.

Garcia is suffering from being signed late in the window because we kept bloody going for De Rossi, I imagine at Mancini's request, even though it was clear he didn't fancy the move. If we'd just gone for this guy earlier in the Summer and given him a preseason, he would be much further along in his development.

It had nothing to do with going for De Rossi, it was to do with Benfica digging their heels in.

From the Guardian:

Javi García believes he has joined the "biggest club" in England with Manchester City's new £15.8m signing revealing the club targeted him before the summer's European Championship.

García was unsure if his transfer deadline-day move from Benfica would go through. "I'm very pleased that everything was sorted out in the end," he told MCFC TV. "The last few days have seemed very long and quite hard going but at the end of the day, as I say, I'm very happy. "

According to Roma CEO Claudio Fenucci we were interested in De Rossi but never put an offer on the table." City were interested but there was no negotiation. We have not heard about any proposals"

They will have been negotiating for Garcia, Martinez, DeRossi and several others, all at the same time.

In the case of DeRossi, it will have been a personal decision rather than actually talking figures with his club, although I doubt very much that no contact was made with them.

Yes enquiries ( not negotiations ) would have been made but to suggest we signed Garcia late because Mancini wanted De Rossi is nonsense imo. I've been told we initially inquired for Garcia back in January.

We are enquiring for players now who we may not sign til next summer & some will be in the same position.
