"Why is Balotelli so good for Italy and so inconsistent for Man City?"
"Perhaps because Italy play him in his best position as a central striker"
Hmmm
I'd like to think that we all understand that statement.
It's a valid point, but my thinkingis that if you want the shirt you must earn it. For Tevez or Aguero to me moved aside he has to produce more than them.
Clearly he won't out work them, so he has to out score them or play some wicked link up play every time and he doesn't.
how is he supposed to produce on their level if he isn't played in the same position?
Balotelli does try to create for teammates, but both your statement and mine are totally subjective, so I don't think either adds anything to the discussion.
And 'outworking' them is an interesting topic, I've never really noticed aguero doing much defending ... to be honest I notice mario back across the halfway line much more (probably because he's not played as a central striker). And I don't think that's a harsh criticism of Aguero, as I don't want him to be on our side of the halfway line. I don't want balotelli there either.
Balotelli is going to mature into an excellent CF for someone ... I hope it's us and I hope we start playing him there. He's not a winger and he's not a playmaker, and he's certainly not a defender, so why should we want him to be those things?
He's a goalscorer played mostly out of position. I think before we discard, it would be nice to see how he can play in his actual position more than 4 times per year.
