Empty seats

Postby Original Dub » Wed Nov 07, 2012 3:34 pm

Sorry if this has been covered already but I couldnt't find it?

Utv kept banging on about how empty the stadium was and then proceeded to show the seats at half time.

I had every rag cunt texting me saying the usual shit of course. I told them I didn't see empty seats other than the ground being shown at half time when folk were obviously getting a pint.

Even when the second half kicked off I couldn't see a lot of empty seats. Then I obviously got way too engrossed in the match.

Can anyone help here? What was the attendance and were the shots utv showed a clear picture of what was really going on?

Ajax only filled the bottom tier & we had about 4-5k under capacity. Lots of people probably spent £50 on tickets for Real Madrid & can't afford both.

We have four home games on the bounce that would have affected last night along with the fact we are poo in Europe.

I have noticed loads of empty seats at games this season and for the Champions of England its pretty poor but I don’t think this is just a City thing. I think its a country wide problem and the rags are not immune to it even though they will have you think they are. They didn’t sell out vs Stoke and Braga and they are the biggest club in the whole wide world apparently.

We are all being stretched in times where people are losing jobs and everything is going up while wages go down. I think 40k was a strong turnout

It's not just the money thing, no beer, shit atmosphere (being out sung by away fans), not being able to secure your own seat in time (those not in the cup scheme) cheating ref's, shit performances in Europe etc. all add to empty seat scenario.

Our home capacity for UEFA games is 45500 so last night's crowd was only 5278 below capacity.

Seeing as Ajax were probably about 1500 short of selling their allocation it was a pretty decent turn out by City fans.

We sold out v Dortmund and the match versus Real Madrid will also be sold out. However, last night's attendance whilst very decent should represent a warning to those fans and officials of the club who are seriously thinking we need to increase the capacity of Eastlands in the next season or two.

If we cannot sell out against a big name like Ajax in our 2nd season of Champions Lge football then what is going to happen if/when we ever improve in Europe and become top seeds and have group games against the likes that United have faced in recent seasons eg, Basle, Cluj, Romanian side last season etc. The answer is we will have even more empty seats at European matches on the evidence of our attendances at City in previous European campaigns.

So lets have a bigger ground with more empty seats, then fill it when we can. Problem solved.

Why do people worry about empty seats, every club has them. As long as you're there, who cares.

Every league game has been a sell out, except when the away team have returned top tier tickets. However, there are often empty seats. Probably needs to ticket exchange to bed in a bit more and maybe allow gold members to use it as well.

Well simple answer to that is sell the tickets for a tenner and stopped ripping off working class fans who want to go to games but cant afford 30, 40 , 50 quid for a ticket. I would say 50 k of united fans are geunine working class men an women. The rest have money to throw around. I know the ITV presenters could afford to have a season ticket at every premier league club without batting an eye lid, just blatant snobbery.

I for one wont be buying into the chumps league cup scheme if were in it next season.
Theres no point, paltry extra points. No chance of away tickets, you then pay for tickets in the uefa cup which is shite and you can get tickets to the games u want to see on open sale.
Plus this is the biggest bollock by the club, they give tickets out for free whilst true supporters pay top whack!!!

I remember back in the day when we played AC Milan and Juve in the UEFA Cup - it didn't feel like shite then? I watched the likes of Sporting, Bilbao, Schalke, A Madrid in the latter stages last season who all took it seriously and played some great football. Madrid then beat Chelse in the super cup.

The format is shit and it now has a silly name but as you say it''s technically still the UEFA cup, which when I was a kid was considered a major trophy to win and thats how I'm still going to view it. So I'd happy enough if we compete in it.
