the herd wrote:I have been on your blue moon site and to be honest like your support it was pretty dire not a lot of banter and more of your fans saying you are going to lose than they are saying you will win.
Make the most of this small window of success you are having because it won't last Class is permanent and form isn't and like your form in Europe there is only one way you are going and it's not up. I must admit it is good that the plastics from across the way have had there noses blooded but I'm afraid it won't last.
The Arsenal are an institution and always will be one of the biggest clubs in world football, how many clubs still have 40,000 fans on a season ticket waiting list even after 7 barren years ?
We were used to winning trophies for fun and while it lasted it was great but in reality terms nothing ever lasts for ever ( apart from class) .
Some of the best times I have had supporting this great club were in the mid 70s when we did not win anything, this was because you were with real passionate fans and could laugh and cry win or lose and have banter etc. Nowdays it's full of tourists and corporate fans who do not understand the fundamentals of supporting your club.
Anyway thanks for letting me post on here and if anyone wants to make some comments on our site " The Herd " you are welcome

Disagree Chinners...Don't know why but I just felt like not agreeing.

"In 1910, Norris became the majority shareholder of the ailing Woolwich Arsenal (after the club had gone into voluntary liquidation) while still retaining his post on the Fulham board, and became club chairman two years later. With Arsenal's low attendances and poor financial performance, Norris tried to create a London superclub by merging the two clubs, but this was blocked by the Football League. Undeterred, he turned his attention to moving Arsenal to a new stadium; he eventually settled on a site in Highbury, north London, on the site of the recreation ground of St John's College of Divinity; his close relationship with Randall Davidson helped, and the archbishop personally signed the ground's title deed. The Arsenal Stadium opened in 1913, and the club dropped the Woolwich from its name the following year.
Norris's most infamous contribution to Arsenal's history was his role in the club's promotion from the Second Division to the First in 1919. Arsenal were elected to the top flight in spite of only finishing fifth the previous season (1914-15, as competition had been suspended for most of World War I). This promotion came at the expense of other clubs, most notably Arsenal's arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur. It has been alleged that Norris bribed or in some way unduly influenced the voting members of the Football League, in particular the league chairman and owner of Liverpool, John McKenna; at the League's AGM, McKenna made a speech recommending Arsenal's promotion ahead of Spurs thanks to the former's longer spell in the League (Arsenal joined in 1893, Spurs in 1908. Wolves, who finished ahead of Arsenal, had been members of the league since its inception in 1888). Although no firm proof has ever been offered, Norris's other activities, including the scandal that led to his downfall, are often cited as circumstantial evidence. Some claim that Norris 'bribed' McKenna, although this is pure speculation. Probably more likely is that he lobbied McKenna, who fearful of Norris exposing the corruption in the league at the time (Utd and Liverpool were accused of fixing the last game of the season) yielded to Norris's request to promote Arsenal to Division 1 based on their longer spell in the league and their professional status."

Chinners, Id wager a high percentage of Arse fans who harp on and on about history, class and moan about Sugar Daddy's know very little or anything about Henry Norris, or indeed Woolwich Arsenal and how they arrived at 1930 when they began to win tangible stuff.
Similar thing I suppose to Liverpool fans and their clinging to "istree" which in their eyes began around 1965, when football was apparently first invented.

Most people annoyingly refer to the gaining of trophies as "history", wrongly so in my opinion. For me ↑↑THAT↑↑ is history.

But there is no doubt in my mind that Arsenal fans are the most arrogant around and they believe they have some god-given right to be successful. I have never met an Arsenal fan who can take a joke about their club, or get involved in a bit of light-hearted banter when it's about their club. Although rare, I even have a couple of United mates who I can do that with. I think part of their hatred of us is the fact that they regularly beat 'little old City' for years, particularly during the Henry/Pires days, and they can't stand seeing us not only move up to their level, but surpass them.
The way the Arsenal fans celebrated their 1-0 victory over us last season, it was like they had won the Champions League, and I have no doubt they will be going all out to beat us this weekend.
This is a crucial match for us and I really hope our players are up for it. In the game earlier this season we were dreadful and Arsenal played out of their skins, yet they could only get a 1-1 draw with us. We need to go to the Emirates on Sunday and impose our game on them. If we do that from the start, we will win.
Don't they teach spelling and grammar in North London schools? Then again, you must have to be a proper half-wit to watch a rapidly deteriorating team at rapidly increasing prices. Good luck next season in Europe, at least you'll have something to do on a Thursday, if you're lucky.

It would be a very welcome change to actually read some more moderate stuff about City from a Gooner, even a bit of humour would be pleasant. Over the last few seasons, most of the shite emanating from North London about us has been venemous lies and angry bile. Mix that with a liberal serving of arrogance and you will find most City fans have lost any respect for the Gooners.
If Wenger isn't at fault for any of your recent problems Mate...then City have certainly taken the blame for just about everything. I have even had one particular Gooner screaming abuse at me in my cab the moment he learned i was a city fan. along the lines of "I fuckin hate you blue bastards, your are killing football by buying success and destroying everything good that Arsenal have put in place." There was more.
I hope that you personally are treated with respect on here but you may find a backlash from some very angry city fans at the public stance your club has taken in it's openly vile criticism of City.
