I'm very interested in how much the deal is worth though? He has over 2 years left to run on his contract hasn't he? Can't see it being less than £20 mil surely?

Correct me if I'm wrong but if 2 years remain on the contract and he's on £150k a week that would be £15.6 mil buyout to start with? Or have I got it totally wrong?

we'll save 15.6 in wages using your maths plus we'll get whatever the transfer fee is (allegedly 20m). His salary there is again allegedly less than here but our fee is whatever we can agree and not tied to the balance of his wages.

Wish him well and look forward to watching how he does for Milan and Italy. I still think in 10 years people will be talking about what he could have done, but I hope we've got a sell on clause, just in case he realises how good he could be.

Thanks for the memories Mario. Great fun. Terrible signing from a football perspective but a couple of big, big, goals which helped us win trophies & will forever be a City champion.

A couple of big goals is the absolute minimun we could expect from such a player though. I would expect Darren Bent or anyone else to chip in with some big goals in this team. Bellamy would have done if we'd kept him. Mario should have produced much much more.

Best penalty taker I've ever seen but not even in the top 100 best strikers I've seen. Maybe will be one day, we'll see.

I'm sorry to see him go. If we don't replace him then it will look like an FFP decision. We already would have written off 2/5 off his original transfer fee so instead of amortising a further 4m this year, we will be writing back whatever we receive over £12m plus possibly (depending on terms) saving about 3m in wages. Net effect on the accounts of between +9m and +18m, depending on fee (assuming in 17-23m range) and wage settlements...
