Its Going To Get Ugly / Ganging up [MERGED]

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The 4 clubs that have pushed this through are all american owned. Expect relegation/promotion to come to an end and private TV deals as well. I only hope West Ham and Wigan get relegated before this happens. Cunts.

I'm not sure how much tongue was shoved in howmuch cheek for that post Mate....but...
Regarding the "League is fucked" statement, you could well be more accurate than you realise, only time will tell and we may already have gone beyond the tipping point.

Regarding the term "Conspiracy Theorists", it has become a horribly subversive term, often/usually used by the powerful, that has become corrupted to ridicule any person or group that challenges them. It is too often used as a tool to subvert free thinking.

That is not to say that all conspiracy theorists are right. Plenty are just plain nutters.

I can reassure you that I had my tongue well outside anyone's cheek. I agree with everything you say, this is a vindication for everyone's been called a conspiray theorist on this site. OK, they might not be right about everything but they sure as hell were right about this.

This is sad news. Perhaps for us also.

I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Does anyone else think along the lines that the FA , Sky etc etc would not want to see this become a very messy court case ?

It won't stop us, anymore than UEFA will.

We will have to use sponsorship in the short term in order to get past UEFA's corruption. If we pass UEFA, we sail past this.

It just means that the majority of clubs have voted to make money rather than compete with us & keeps the likes of Liverpool & Arsenal ahead of them in the battle for Champions League places. The various owners have decided to look after themselves.

Fans who think this is a good thing will realise the truth over time.

isn't it that the salary being paid from the forthcoming television rights windfall is capped - you can still pay a player as much as you like, but only a certain amount of it can come from the coffers of the tv deal ?
If this is the case it's not going to affect Chelsea or us, but barmheads like wigan and west ham are in the shit

Not surprised at all. They are going to try everything to stop us.

Hey, has anyone seen gary neville's new United advertisement on sky? It's on pretty much every break. I sincerely hope they will be doing it for every club in the premier league.

Even if they do, it's charming that they have their chief analyst advertising one team.

It's relentless.

It's not about us, it's about the good of football, which the four clubs mentioned (+ Everton in the past) have been working against for 30 years.

Phips:
This vote is protectionist in nature, it's about club owners taking money out of football and no longer investing. The next sensible move would be to stop relegation/promotion. Then, with guaranteed income for everyone, it will free up the big clubs to go for their own TV deals to thoroughly exploit the game. Fucking disgusting we let these Americans do this. To use an analogy, they're trying to do to football what the grey squirrel population did to the the indigenous red population, but with the help of the latter.

It is partly about us. I don't think it will impact on us too much.
But yes there is a bigger picture and it disgusted me that a group of owners of a select band of clubs can make a decision that will resonate through the leagues and down the years. What fucking right have they got to fuck football up, so they can line their pockets.

They are meant to be custodians of their clubs, not condemning them to mediocrity forever, just so they can skim some of the profits off. They are supposed to be guardians of the games, the fucking gutless bastards.

It's about us as far as the rags are concerned, they can't exist without being the big 'I am' & we would have wiped that out if allowed to spend without restrictions, but this has effectively saved the Glazers as owners.

The rest have decided they don't care if the rags win the league every year, provided they pocket a profit.

Now Platini will have to decide whether to increase the size of the Champions League, or Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool will push for a European league. They need part of that pie or they are even more fucked. I don't think they would have voted for this if they didn't have word that Platini is going to fix the Champions League for them.
