Claiming the Charity Shield as a proper trophy

I just don't think we should be dismissing trophies when we hadn't' won any for so long. It was more of a tongue in cheek statement, but maybe didn't come across like that.

When you win it, it counts as a trophy, but when you lose, it's a friendly.

I'm not suggesting we shouldn't take the 'competition' seriously. It's a one-off match!

I dont usually count it but this year it was against the newly crowned champions of europe so i think it was a trophy worth counting

They beat us in the Charity Shield, which is fuck all, but were upset we had won a trophy & were coming after them, so claimed it as important .

The Charity Shield is an abject season opening friendly nonsense that nobody takes seriously and interferes with the pre season preparation. It is not worth winning and any fans who try and big it up are sad bastards.

The same point as all the other pre season friendlies, & it's expected, & it's for charity.

And that's how we saw it, as a charity friendly. Once we won it, it became another piece of silverware. Nobody is saying it is a major trophy, nobody is bigging it up to be more than it is but it doesn't mean we can't mention it just because a few feel it's beneath them.

I agree with that, but I lumped them together because it's open to debate. It depends on a club's circumstances I suppose.

Last year Chelsea were desperate to win the CL. We were desperate to win the PL. Even if Liverpool were still qualifying for the CL, they'd much rather win the PL.

I get more of a buzz from the thought of us winning the league, for sure.
