We beat them in a cup semi final, which is the semi final of the world's most famous domestic cup & a reasonable backup prize for those not good enough to win the league. They beat us in the Charity Shield, which is fuck all, but were upset we had won a trophy & were coming after them, so claimed it as important .
We laughed at them because of it.
Most of us still do & will again if they do the same next season.
It's a pre season friendly which doesn't even sell out.
It's all about opinions Ted and mine is that I will class it as a *trophy. What's the point in competing if it's not a competition?
*A trophy is a reward for a specific achievement, and serves as recognition or evidence of merit.
The same point as all the other pre season friendlies, & it's expected, & it's for charity.
And that's how we saw it, as a charity friendly. Once we won it, it became another piece of silverware. Nobody is saying it is a major trophy, nobody is bigging it up to be more than it is but it doesn't mean we can't mention it just because a few feel it's beneath them.
And just for shits and giggles:
