Interesting.

When Sinclair came on yesterday you could actually see how eager he was to make an impression. His work rate was exceptional. He was running around like a headless chicken. He just barely got a touch - and when he did get a touch he understandably probs tried to do a bit too much. It's not his fault. He probably can't remember what its like to be on a football pitch at the moment. It's impossible to judge him when he's barely played 90 minutes all year.
I personally think that if he was used as an impact sub a lot more frequently he'd actually probably do a half decent job.

The little touches from Nasri, Tevez, Dzeko, Yaya, Barry, amd most of all Silva were just joyous to watch.
Yes we were only playing Barnsley, but we would have outplayed any team on the planet playing like that.
It wasn't just tiki-taka, we played long balls, unexpected acute diagonals to the 'second' man, crosses, as well as the quick one-twos through the middle.
It was even better than alot of last years' cream-inducing showings.
Scott Sinclair showed yesterday that he is nowhere near this level of football.
Yes, he has been given very few chances; yes, his confidence may be knocked, but it matters not:
He is nowhere near good enough for a trophy-chasing side. Just obvious. We knew it before we signed him -
possibly the most underwhelming signing of the last 4 years.
Sorry, he should be sold to someone shit like Liverpool in the summer, and we can get someone useful in,
like a better pie-maker or something.

And what exactly was it in Scott's play that convinced you that he was playing to his optimum level in that game & would be incapable of playing better ?

Mostly, his complete inability to link up with any of his team-mates and keep the move flowing. He got tackled or intercepted every time. Chose the wrong option almost every time, and has every time he's played for us - runs on when he should turn and pass, though I remember one bit of play yesterday when he made some progress down the right, got blocked off, and did manage to pass it back to a team-mate safely. One. Then the rest of the team mostly chose any other route forward. Didn't matter at 4-0.
Look, I completely agree with you - he's nowhere near his best, he lacks confidence and match sharpness, but I also know that even if he had these things, he would still be nowhere near an intelligent or skilful enough player for us.

How do you know that when you haven't seen him at his best in a City shirt?

On a more serious note I agree with those who say that there is little proof in either direction regarding Sinclair's abilities. Actually, for those of you who think you've seen enough of Sinclair to be ready to discard him, I feel you have a pretty heavy burden on you in the form of providing evidence. And this proof has to be beyond stuff that generally are exhibited by players who are brought in late during the window or hasn't featured a lot during the season.
Either you are football geniuses or you've prematurely turned your back on a player who's done nothing to deserve your lack of belief. It's time to let your true colours shine!

So a player who's been here since August; isn't new to the PL; is living with his girlfriend rather than away from her; and has been trusted for about 2 hours in total by the manager and in that time has given us nothing and yet those who think he might not be good enough for a top two side need to provide the evidence?
Odd, but I'll call Mancini as my first witness.

Tell you what, why don't you provide some evidence from his time at City of some positive things he's done which make you think he could be a valuable member of the squad. A goal maybe, or an assist, or even a time when he beat a fullback.
freshie wrote:
Cos that'd be really fair. He's only played a total of about 180 minutes, if that, for us. I seem to remember he beat the Villa fullback on a few occasions during the 5-0 home win against them
