I think It was a red despite Bunn's reaction. Not sure the ref could call it from the angle he had, but replays show Bunn had his arms up and the ball bounced into his elbow, so the ref ended up making the right call.
I wasn't convinced by the penalty. Defender cheated it across his body away from goal towards the byline and the linesman saw it roll from chest to arm.

Edit: Just seen the sending off and wondering what the rule is for handling the ball outside the box (not quite intentional, either)? I understand that with a foul he can send him off for denying a goal scoring opportunity but I'm unsure as to the ball hitting his elbow and bouncing off his chest.
Also, not seen it but they've just said the ball hit Bassong's chest and he wasn't even in the box. The ref gives Sunderland a penalty. How does that compare to yesterdays penalty decision against us?
To me it looks like the Premier League are getting their house in order for next season.
