Di Canio - Two and a half year deal

This could either be a stroke of genius or an utter disaster. He did well at Swindon but his style was a bit 'off the cuff'.

That's a hell of a risk from Sunderland.

to be fair you kinda have do to something bold to matter, and it's about as bold as it might get within reason.

Appointing Hughes or RDM would have been much safer in theory, but i'm not convinced they would have done anything more than the last two, so...why the fuck not? Not the first and won't be the last fascist managing a team in the Prem i'd guess.

cheers

My hat off to Dave Milliband.... a self-confessed fascist - and the twat really is - at the helm of one most traditionally working-class Club is a joke beyond ridicule.

I still quite rate MoN, as a decent manager, despite this failure and his less than pleasant attitude towards City.

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

Its a tough one, i think his personal beliefs, no matter how distasteful should not come into any assessment of his ability to manage a football team. PROVIDED, he doesnt embarrass the club by publically airing those views.

Agreed. Also have a small amount of respect for him for admitting his views (unlike quite a few other 'lefties' I know, I actually believe in freedom of speech and beliefs), no matter how abhorrent they may be. It's surely better than being a closeted fascist or racist, too, no?

I find it, refreshing.

As for MO'N, can't stand the bloke but do have a profound respect for him.

To be honest, he looked really weary today and I think his wifes health should come first. I'm glad he's out.

I may agree as well, if I hadn't being watching and listening the twat during his Lazio career.
But let's take it as wisely suggest by Sparty.

Maybe Di Canio is a 'fascist' in the same way that ferguson is a 'socialist'. In ferguson's case, that means ditching the idea of the redistribution of wealth by having a part of your salary paid to you as if you were a company. In Di Canio's case, it may be that rather than acting in accordance with what's best for the state (no matter what), he acts in his own self-interest. Just a thought.

Let me put this way.... despite sharing a quite deep admiration for Yukio Mishima, I've never felt the need to use the Roman salute, let alone in front of people like the supporters of A.S. Livorno (the birthplace of Italy’s Communist party.), definitely the most lefty blokes of the whole Italian football. I could go as far as to understand the piss taking on the archrivals of A.S. Roma... but making the fascist salute in front of the Livorno stands is neither safe or smart.
Also, saying in his auto-biography that Mussolini was a very principled, ethical individual,a misunderstood person is way beyond what a lefty Italian bloke, who have never met his uncle because he had been taken and fired on the hills because of his active cooperation with the Allies can stand.

I certainly don't want to give the cunt more audience than his little intelligence deserves, but when the former MSI , the ultra right party which carried the heritage of the Salò Repubblic, made the famous Congress in which the party distanced itself from the pure fascism to focus on a democratic persue of traditional social and state values, law and order, Di Canio - if memory serves - was one of the thousands voices which called them traitors!

Once said that, I not daft enough to not realize that we are just talking of a cunt which earns his beans through his feet.
As wisely said, just judge a footballer from his football and wish well to Sunderland F.C.

All that said, his history would inform both you and I that its probably only a matter of time before he is embroiled in some controversy on a visit to Italy, although perhaps becoming a manager is what he needed to grow up and stop actively courting the adoration of the left.

One can always hope - and miliband is a smarmy cunt who is only in football to boost his image before going back into politics, so he can fuck off for a start

I would have thought Mr Miliband and his people were in favour of freedom of opinion in a democrary. Otherwise surely that makes him the Fascist, or Stalinist, as the case may be?

Freedom of opinion means that their opinions are legal not that you have to work with them. There is such a thing as freedom of association as well and Mr Miliband is entitled to disassociate with anyone he wishes!
