Brian Kidd - What Does He Actually Bring?

Postby Beefymcfc » Sun Apr 21, 2013 10:12 am

Listening to the Kiddo presser on the OS got me thinking, what has Brian Kidd brought to the party? He's done more than most in the game and was brought into the United hierarchy just before they took the newly found Premier League by storm. He then comes back to us and the revolution starts all over again.

It's well documented about his fall-out with Taggart and is it any coincidence that we have them over regularly?

Just wondered what people thought of Brian Kidd, on a personal and professional basis.

Personally I like him. Professionally I like him.

The man is football through and through. Possibly the most decorated specialist assistant manager in the game.

I'm not remotely arsed that he once (twice) collected Stretford paychecks.

I love Kiddo.
In spite of living too far away to actually sense it, I think that he brings - at least - a very positive influence in our camp.
I can remember some occasions when his sensed and balanced words have been quite important to smooth down possible undermining tensions in the camp.

I may be wrong. but I can't help but like him very much.
I cannot fail to see the good point, raised by OP, on the excess of coaching personnel which seems to be pretty common at many Big Clubs, though

1. "unintelligible language"
2. "ACID QUEEN"
3. "never once fails to turn a football thread into a himseelf thread"
4. "thumbs stalker often resulting in repetitive thumb strain"
5. ignore the cunt. he's on permantent wum mission. only TIDs may know City

You'd need to make a very good psychiatrist in order to guess what next in a eight yrs long line of hatred...

In Roger Ailes/Donnie Drumpf's words: "don't know it for a fact, but many people say so..."
there must be some truth, then!

I would be interested to know Doug's opinion on this, he somewhat of an enigma, it is Platt that you seen barking orders and going over tactics with subs, you kind of forget Brian is technically number two.

Does Doug see more of him at training? Perhaps he is more of a man manager off the pitch, something that Bobby apparently isn't so good at according to some players?

I think that's my take on him. Mancini is the tactician/disciplinarian etc, Platt is his mouth-piece/prodder and Kiddo is the one giving advice/arm around the shoulder. Obviously there's more to it than that but in essence, that's their positions.

I sort of get the impression of Mancini having a go at Nasri (for example) and then Platt telling him what is needed to rectify it. Then Kiddo comes in and puts it into practice, mentoring and confidence building.

Also, his knowledge of Taggart and United cannot be understated and when he mentions that 'He told Mancini that United would slip' last season, his experience cannot be understated. Seems to me that he had a big part to play, if indeed, he was that man imparting knowledge and confidence to the team that went out and won it.

You are right though, Doug's view would be good to assess.

Platt speaks fluent Italian which is why he is the mouthpiece on match days. When Bob is frustrated and shouting in italian platt is able to translate and get the message over easier. Kidd for me is more a coach for the training pitch, supportive and knowledgeable but less of a leader which is why he failed in management

Kidd is Mancini's softener with the players just as Platt is with the media.

I remember reading something a few years back where it said Taggart slaughtered Kidd, referring to his time as a manager. Something also came out that Kiddo questioned Taggart and that's why he was moved on.

So much for Taggart being this philanthropic person towards all managers. Seems to me he only does it when it suits his needs, much like the call to newly promoted Cardiff manager Malky Mackay. I wonder what words of advice he gave him?

I'm told that Kidd was the only person within the management team that actually believed the title wasn't over last season when we fucked it at Arsenal and that Bob had genuinely given up.

True again but Yaya's early card detracted from his game. An ealry yellow prevents the man from giving is all and sometimes he needs to dull it down.

From where I was sat the yellow card seemed extremely harsh. Having not seen a replay of the incident, was it deserved?

It was for petulance wasn't it? Kicking the ball away, I believe.

I'll tell you later mate but from the TV footage he only had himself to blame, even though I don't think it was deserved.

If it was for kicking the ball away then he really is a dickhead and I would fine him a week's wages. I have seen him commit acts of petulance like this far too often
