While on the surface you might have a point, Alonso's pin point passing and amazing ability to cover the ball still gets him out of the trouble even in highest level. That is not the case with Barry.

I'm not one of the people harping on about past great players but I must admit that I've always had bit of a man cruch with Alonso. Stunningly amazing footballer who genuinely DOES those things that don't necesserily meet the eye lot of people claim Barry does. Keeps the formation together, can deliver crucial balls sideways and forward. Quick thinker and always helps players around him shine. I would make an exception on him and bring him in for few years. Not that he would come or anything but in theory.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Would also provide ample cover at the back to allow Yaya to be pushed into a more attacking role. Barry is clumsy as fuck in possession and attempting to make a decent tackle. It's time to get rid.

Like I said, all purely hypothetical. He wouldn't even move. Generally I very much agree with you.

Them and Klopp and I think this time next year we'd be drinking champagne from that little CL cup. Might make Dortmund fans bit pissed off but as one wise man once said "tough shit".

In reality, this team doesn't need much but I feel we are desperate for player like Gotze. Absolutely desperate. Shame Bayern were faster than us. that 35m or whatever is going to turn out to be a bargain.

Manchester City can confirm that Ivan Carminati, Fausto Salsano, Massimo Battara, Angelo Gregucci and Attilio Lombardo have left their respective roles at the football club.

We thank them for their contribution to Manchester City since their arrival and wish them well with their future careers.

It's like starting new all over again. I hope who ever they bring in has a good knowledge of football from grassroots to the senior team.

The philosophy of our footballing style needs to be chosen and chosen quickly. Otherwise we could lose a year or so with all this change and our kids will not be progressing at the same rate as they could have been.

This is something we have not seen before. The training staff will be appointed by the board rather than the coach and the same for the coach.

The reality is that the manager will be the DoF who will tell the coach how they should play.

I've got a feeling that these spanish guys who used to run barcelona might have some sort of plan - need a football expert to put my mind at rest

But then if this manager doesn't stay, the style of play may change with the next coach.

Why not choose a philosophy, choose your coaches for the grassroots and academy, then appoint a manager who can apply the said philosophy to the senior team.

Surely this will make more sense than keep changing.

I think everybody understands the plan mate but if we try to replicate the Barca model have we got the personnel to do so?

They had the likes of Xavi, Iniesta et al whilst we have Suarez, Pozo et al. Are ours at the same standard, can they succeed in a totally different league?
