I agree that Sergio hasn't been upto scratch this season but imo that is the case with every single player we have bar Tevez, Barry, Zabba & Milner.

Sergio, Yaya, Silva, Hart, Kompany nowhere near their true world class, all the rest, not consistently top 2 Prem standard.

The whole squad has been at 60% all season & only the sheer quality of players such as Aguero & Tevez, the poaching insticts of Dzeko, the bits of genius from Silva or Nasri, have dragged us through mundane performances.

It's only because they are so good, that they can be so far off top form & still get 2nd place.

And this is why I'm saying that the love for aguero and hate for dzeko shown on a weekly basis here is ridiculous

I don't believe either player has ever got to truly top form, and both have spent a significant amount of time well well below par.

I want to see both thrown into a lineup with attacking intent, varying the play and playing to THEIR strengths, not just the tactical philosophy of a manager who regards his tactic as the only thing that matters.

I' quite excited for Sergio as it happens, I think he could be at the centre of great things next season

The difference for me is that Sergio always tries, even when not fit. Dzeko just plays when he feels like it & rarely two games in a row.

Can you honestly not see that despite not hitting form this season that Aguero always puts a shift in? Dzeko on the other hand, well.....

This is the main factor between Dzeko getting a hard time from supporters and Aguero not.

Cheers mate. I love all the players the same. Sergio, Dzeko, it's all good for me. The only problem I have with Edin is that we don't have the personnel or play the game to his strengths. If we did, we might see a totally different player. I said the same about Mario, that he should be played as an out-and-out striker, but that wasn't to be.

Yet Dzeko scores...nearly always.
Its frustrating and I know where your coming from but I still think he was fucked over,I remember he was scoring for fun at the start of the season then he was suddenly dropped....cardinal sin in my book.

When was he dropped?

Early season, but only to rest him imo.

I don't think Dzeko does always score though. I think he misses some pretty easy chances at times, especially when starting games.

Strangely, in these friendly games imo he's been playing slightly differently & sometimes they are playing the ball in to his feet & he is holding off the defender & laying the ball off (something I've been moaning about us not doing all season) more like a big striker should.

If it wasn't for these Cavani swap stories I would be tempted to think that Pellegrini has a job for him.

Are we talking the season just finished or the season before when referring to him being dropped when he was scoring for fun? Sorry for nitpicking, I'm just not following.

Mainly the season prior but also he was dropped this season , I think after the west brom game when he scored, then he was dropped and came back and scored against spurs then he was left out for a while...might have only come on as a sub.

I think most of our players, from Nasri to Milner, constantly play in positions in which they are not completely comfortable. Hopefully, this kind of thing will slowly be phased out over time, given how the club is being structured currently.

Dropping him after he'd scored 4 at Spurs was ridiculous. I'm sure he'd scored 7 in 6 or something like that too.

Ah right, thanks.

In regards the previous season he was rested for the Wigan game ahead of a CL game the following Tuesday. This was understandable imo because he had just come off the back of playing 180 minutes for Bosnia in the previous week and we had a fit Tevez who had just finished his preseason ( having arrived back late from the summer break but that's for another thread ) and was fresh and in need of minutes on the pitch.

Dzeko did start the next 4 games following that Wigan game, so while I can see where you're coming from Carl, I don't think it was quite the 'cardinal sin' you refer to. It was perfectly understandable him being rested for that game imo and if his form is going to be affected that badly because he sits out one game then he is not the right fit for a squad that will rely on rotation given the demands of a succesful season.

Lets get Petrov back and give him five minute cameo roles so I can properly vent my spleen.

Typical whinging "stick in the mud" to the end...You are offered a brand new "Sergio Aguero scapegoat experience" on a plate but you choose to lurch back into your old comfort zone and opt to yearn for what you already know. Have you no sense of adventure Piccs?

In the unlikely event that you actually learn to like Pellegrini, God only knows how you'll cope. Maybe you need to take advice from your right hand man and acolyte in the Discovery channel hat...Gillie!

Is not good that this forum is so fucked that even a thread on one of the best players in the world committing to us can descend into multiple slanging matches and a bitchfest. Hope we can all move on once the new guy is confirmed at the helm...
