Lower our standards? Give over. City have come a long way since they were competing for players with Birmingham and Leicester but they aren't at Real's level of world-wide fame yet. I don't like Franco's fascists but when City have won as much as them, or scored seven in a European Cup final, or at least not tamely gone down to defeat when leading at the Bernabeu with three minutes to go, then perhaps we can start talking about standards. But you mean "moral standards" don't you? That's how we used to console ourselves when comparison were made with U****d when City were shite and the rags were in their pomp, and to be honest it wasn't much consolation then, either.
I wasn't harking back to the bad old days Bob, and I don't see our professionalism as a consolation - I see it as a cornerstone of the successful future that we're building towards. I think that moral and ethical standards are central to the clubs values - especially in this day and age - hence our management team has kept it's own council rather than feed nonsense to the media and that, I believe, may bear fruit when Isco puts his final thoughts towards where he wants to play.
It's not looking great going by the weight of unsubstantiated bollox that's being spouted but the hard fact is that he hasn't signed as yet and we're looking dignified in our approach which is never a bad thing.
