Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Lower our standards? Give over. City have come a long way since they were competing for players with Birmingham and Leicester but they aren't at Real's level of world-wide fame yet. I don't like Franco's fascists but when City have won as much as them, or scored seven in a European Cup final, or at least not tamely gone down to defeat when leading at the Bernabeu with three minutes to go, then perhaps we can start talking about standards. But you mean "moral standards" don't you? That's how we used to console ourselves when comparison were made with U****d when City were shite and the rags were in their pomp, and to be honest it wasn't much consolation then, either.

I wasn't harking back to the bad old days Bob, and I don't see our professionalism as a consolation - I see it as a cornerstone of the successful future that we're building towards. I think that moral and ethical standards are central to the clubs values - especially in this day and age - hence our management team has kept it's own council rather than feed nonsense to the media and that, I believe, may bear fruit when Isco puts his final thoughts towards where he wants to play.
It's not looking great going by the weight of unsubstantiated bollox that's being spouted but the hard fact is that he hasn't signed as yet and we're looking dignified in our approach which is never a bad thing.
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly angry that Isco has performed a U-turn to snub Manchester City for Real Madrid to secure more money. The new City boss was poised to welcome Isco to the Etihad Stadium this summer after reports in Spain suggested the highly-rated Spanish playmaker wanted to follow his former Malaga coach to the Premier League this summer. Isco's reasoning for snubbing a chance to stay in Spain with Madrid was because he viewed Pellegrini as a father-figure and would have a better chance of regular first-team football at City in the build up to next summer's World Cup finals in Brazil. However, the situation appears to have changed over the weekend with Spanish publication El Confidencial reporting that Real Madrid have moved to offer Malaga 27 million euros and Isco a better deal to ensure he rejects a move to City and stays put in La Liga. And, as the player has previously stated that he wanted to get the best possible deal for cash-strapped Malaga, it appears that he will move to the Bernabeu in this transfer window. It has led to an angry response from Pellegrini after City had worked hard to virtually tie up a deal for Isco. And with Real Madrid looking set to win the race for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, the Chilean tactician will now have to go back to the drawing board to find alternative targets with Liverpool hitman Luis Suarez linked on Sunday.

ALSO

El Confidencial now say that Real Madrid learned of the amount Manchester City had agreed to pay and simply bettered it to both Malaga and the player. Malaga have been offered €27m by the side from the Spanish capital and unless Manchester City do something about it quickly then he'll be going there instead.

Isco has always insisted that the best deal for Malaga was important to him and that's beside the point to a certain degree, because unless anyone meets his release clause the club can accept and decline any offer they want. It doesn't matter if they've already agreed with Manchester City in principal, if Real Madrid offer more then they get the player, it's a simple as that. Real Madrid could simply be hitting back on the deal in the same way Manchester City did over the last couple of weeks.

The newspaper say that Pellegrini is angry because he thought the deal was done and Isco was all set to join him at Manchester City. El Confidencial say that Manchester City spent the last week finalising a deal, as far as they thought, only for Real Madrid to hit the red button and offer more to all parties. Isco is stated as being a specific request of Pellegrini to Manchester City but he's a player Real Madrid couldn't just sit by and watch sign for someone else. They'd have rather waited until Ancelotti was appointed but Manchester City's moves to close the deal made them panic, and this is the result.

The Premier League club have a very small window now to move back in, even if they want to. The way it's been handled may mean they walk away entirely.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

I honestly can't decide if it's all over or whether there is still some way to run. I don't believe much that comes out of the Spanish media...or the mouths of RM's leadership team.

I'd like us to go really hard for him.,...I can understand why he may well choose Madrid but I don't think we should just "bow out gracefully"...he's too good

Real president recons he wants to sign for them. If he does then we will know by now.

If it was true that Malaga accepted our offer then broke the agreement, the Sheikh may refuse to deal with them anyway.

A lot of the stories that he would sign today have come from players apparently. So it could well be that we had an agreement with Malaga & they fucked us off as we were about to finalise the deal, which won't have gone down well at all at the top, especially if it was their owner who made the agreement.

Graham Hunter has tweeted that it is Zidane who convinced Perez to go for Isco as the Madrid president was going to let their interest slide. So Isco has gone to a club whose President did not really want him. Good luck Isco lad i have a feeling you will regret it son.

For as long as there's no official announcement, the deal is not through.

I do agree that this is very reminiscent of Hazard.

I read somewhere Perez said Isco would be announced AFTER the manager, ie Ancelotti. (Rumoured RM press conference Thursday?)
Apparently we have not been "whiter than white" with Malaga; rumours we had a "friendly agreement" with RM to reduce the amount paid. They are in financial crisis and they were trying to get all the money they could from Isco.
Isco was sympathetic to their difficulties, (from his tweets), and probably was frustrated we were not "playing fair."
(Additionally, we insisted Pelligrini was paid monies owed from his time there which would have hit them again financially.)

Ermm, if we had an agreement with Real Madrid, then they wouldn't be 'playing fair' either would they ? So I'm calling complete and utter BOLLOCKS on this one. Whoever told you that, is trying to stir up shit deliberately.
