To me though the way it's coming across is that you are being just as unfair to Nasty as Lescott's detractors are to him.
I agree about signing another CB, I'm beginning to wonder whether allowing Kolo to move on was such a good idea.
I actually was about to post that Nastasic was answering a lot of my questions v Sunderland, generally getting much more involved, doing more defending & looking good for the new season. Then Wickham did him like a kipper. This kind of thing happened about 8 or 10 times last season, often v nobodies & rarely resulting in a goal, but it happened nontheless. As I had decided to generally stop mentioning Nastasic mistakes, nobody else did, so consequently, on here, it never happened & we get the 'we'll be ok with Vinny & Nasty' comments. Well we might be fantastic With those two, but the only current evidence on Nasty is a poorish end to last season, an absolute nightmare in his first pre season game, a fantastic performance v Sunderland but ending in humiliation & injury.
How people get 100% confidence from that, I have no idea.
Vinny incidentally is looking like the best cb in the world again & the way he was chucking his body in to block stuff v Bayern is one of the things I'm looking for from Nasty this season, not coasting around looking cool. Twits on here tell me good defenders don't do that kind of defending: BOLLOCKS.
Boyata was doing a bit of it & was promising v Bayern, but if the system the Count has in mind is for the whole team to eventually push up like Barca, then imo Kolo was a better option than Lescott or Nastasic & we should have at least one cb with pace.
If we could sign a top cb with a yard of pace, from what I'm seeing, we could be Incredible this season, the JL & Nasty are great backup who can still play a good 30 games each.
