Lyon is as good as out surely. Schalke is a bit of a mess at the moment, but not sure whether PAOK can take advantage of that. Can't see PSV going through on last night's showing, sadly. We all know the state of Arsenal, but things are far from rosy at Fenerbahce as well.

One thing is for sure regarding Rekik: Actually playing is doing wonders for his career. He's now been selected for the Dutch squad for he upcoming WC qualifiers. That would never have happened playing for our development team or being stuck on the first team bench.

Yes, I like to concentrate on the negatives. That's the whole idea when assessing whether a defender is good enough; find out what his weaknesses are & try to judge whether he has shown anything to suggest that he can fix them & therefore be of some use to MCFC.

I didn't watch the match with the idea of going 'ooh look he almost followed Balotelli there but he didn't quite, but well done for trying though lad!' ' he's only eighteen you know' I watched it to find out if he looks good enough to play for City next season, as some on here would have had him doing this season! He didn't show anything. He tried his absolute best to stick with Balotelli but several times Mario shrugged him off in 3 paces. That means Sturridge loses him in two & RVP has probably already lost him.

I'll try to keep an eye out for him later in the season, in case he had a bad night, & see if he shows anything more or whether it's down to the standard of the league being poor. As it stands, he isn't close to being a City player & physically, it's doubtful he can play for us in that position. He doesn't appear to get off the ground well enough to be a Premier League cb.

Again with the assumptions of what people are doing when they disagree with you...
If you expect any player of his age with his level of (lack of) experience to be good enough for our first team week in week out you are delusional. Any sane person would expect him to make mistakes because it's the only way he will learn enough to BECOME good enough for us week in week out. I sometimes wonder what planet you are on. We are not going to stumble on a batch of fully formed young players from our academy who are instantly ready for first team action no matter how much we spend on them, they all have to be DEVELOPED which means they will all have to make mistakes.

doesn't really matter if the Arse lose the tie as Fenerbahce will be thrown out of the CL leaving the Arse to crawl threw the "back door"into the group stages

Not necessarily. Thet played salzburg in the last round who are ready to lodge an appeal. Also the farcical idiots at uefa have decided to sit and discuss the situation the day after the second leg. They ate cleaely confident that arsenal will win with the help of biased officials.

Weren't we in Pot 2 last season, Pot 3 the season before?

I honestly don't think it matters which Pot you are in. If it's coming out the Gp of Death, we're in it. Third time though, that'd be really fishy.

Arsenal should beat them over 2 legs and do UEFA a favour. However, I'll be keeping a close eye on the decisions, just in case.

Holy hell, Dortmund were in pot 4, well that's just madness.

Exactly. They should have jumped up one now so we could realistically still get them. Either way, we'll be against the likes of Barca, Real, Bayern, Porto or Milan if they get through, the rest seems to be pre-ordained by right of the seedings/football schedule.

If I could be arsed I'd do a combination on the draw but I'd probably find that there's not too much to aim for because of the above.

From pot 3, we could get Porto, Marseille, and Copenhagen.

And we avoid Juve, Dortmund and Ajax who are all in pot3 with us.

If we get into pot two, Juve will also be there and with Sociedad kicking the hell out of Lyon, I expect they would be.

So pot 2 would be preferred, we could end up with Porto, Copenhagen and let's say, Shakhter Karagandy.

Now that group would have us through, only decent games would be Porto but I think it more important this time around that we just get the hell out of the group.

NO Beefy/Slim, there should be only one pot with all the names in it. I'm getting really sick of manipulation to give the G14 a bit more dosh.

One pot, no weights, no helping the rich .
A normal one after the other draw . A draw resulting in a group of death would be acceptable to everyone.

You're right but the reality is that it's still a long shot to hit Porto or Benfica , who are still good sides. I'm gonna be the pessimist on this and say we'll get Barca.

I'm hoping that UEFA are seeing us as a big fish and give us a fair draw but I just don't see the balls going that way. I'm with Gollum on this, it could be fixed.

Didn't we roll Porto a couple of seasons ago in the waffa cup to the tune of 6-1?

Without any research at all, I'd say we've improved more than they have.

I'd be more than happy with a draw like that mate and will be crossing my fingers for an easier group. It'd be a little farcical getting 3 Groups of Death in a row and would really see questions asked of the proceedings.

I'm feeling positive, let's just hope the Arse get dicked tonight and see how UEFA deal with the resulting CAS decision.

Looks like the Arse are taking this one seriously. There current best 1st team?

Arsenal

01 Szczesny
03 Sagna
04 Mertesacker
06 Koscielny
28 Gibbs
07 Rosicky
10 Wilshere
14 Walcott
16 Ramsey
19 Cazorla
12 Giroud

Substitutes

21 Fabianski
17 Monreal
25 Jenkinson
26 Frimpong
44 Gnabry
09 Podolski
22 Sanogo

They've got to get through, 25 mil dropped is massive for them.
