Very interesting read ... thanks for posting.

I second that, it does go to show that Webb favours the devilworshippers, (as rafa once said) FACT

it's actually not that interesting.

I find the analytics surrounding football to be really archaic and primitive. Given the nature of this game, and the tools and technology people should be able to give me stats that show WHY Garreth fucking Barry is one of the most important players on a team rather than bullshit stats about Howard Webbs pens. I think that's all very amateur-ish, and i'm looking for Ph.D. level analysis that actually can draw some insights around where players are geographically on a pitch at any given time. Does anyone know about firms doing that type of analysis?

cheers

City themselves were doing some pretty detailed analysis & asking for volunteers to join in with it, last season. John 68 signed up.

I believe there is a lot of info. Whether it specifically details that aspect though, I don't know.

where do you access it tho? Are they collecting it and reselling it to clubs or is it something they're sharing with consumers as well?

Quite a few stats firms (such as squawka) do 'heat maps' showing where players spent their time during the match, very interesting actually - and I think firms in football are slowly starting to catch up to the US in terms of useful information but there's still some way to go.

I'm kinda worried. Ashamed to say it but I'm not feeling confident about our squad based on the 4 prem matches and the plzen match.

You're a cheery fucker even after we win?

Been watching sky sports news for 20 mins and the whole fucking thing has been the scums result and Rooney. Never seen a section so long that isn't an actual program.

We're in now. Will be for 2 mins max. Twats.

Bring 'em on ... and let's stuff 'em and drill them a new one!

The subs last night against Plzen were telling as to who's starting on Sunday. Navas, Yaya and Dzeko along with Kompany/Nasti at the back and Aguero are all confirmed starters in my opinion.

The question remains is will Silva be back in or Nasri retain his place after a good performance. Silva is not only coming back from injury but also his form is questionable right now ...

And pls. God fix Clichy, whatever is wrong with him, even is he is 80% pls. pls. play him at left back and not that thing we put there last night.

I am a bit more upbeat about sunday after most of the players who tweeted after last nights match seemed to have refocused on the derby straight away.

I think Milner has to be on the left against the scum to give protection to Kolarov. Otherwise the whole of our left side of defence will be a mess. It'll be too much pressure for Nastaic to have to run across to cover all the time and if he does Rooney and van Persie will run riot in the middle. It's not ideal because Milner will offer little going forward but there we are. He'll probably end up playing left back most of the time with Kolarov in advanced positions. In fairness Kola put in a cracking cross yesterday which Dzeko fucked up but he's no defender.

How far is Clichy from returning? Can't we just put him back in ... or instead play Zaba on the left and Richards on right, I'll be quite happy with that ...
