Ah ok, now I get where you're coming from. I don't disagree with the Hughes player part. I, myself, agree with whoever said (Dronnosaurus?) that he always strikes me as a touch ponderous.
I'd prefer us to sign some cover and establish who is our best partnership from the resources we have.
For the record, giving Toure the armband now seems a bit of an unwise move. I'd like Nedum to be tried there.....even give Micah another rinse....or A N Other new CB.
The question I cannot answer though is who would I make captain. Other than Shay there doesn't seem to be a single player who is nailed on to start every week.

When in midfield, he can get away with tugging at shirts and tackling recklessly but those things would likely end up in penalties and ultimately goals if he played in defence. I think he has plenty to offer- although yesterday wasn't one of his better moments- but in a midfield role. He has a lot of energy and passes the ball well.
Anyway, why does the Lescott witch-hunt continue? How about giving him a decent length of time to settle in. Why does there always have to be a scapegoat?
Cos I think if you buy a player for 20+ mill pounds he should be able to do what you paid all that money for.
Get better as time progresses, yes, but I think he should begin by playing at a high standard anyway.
All this it takes time is for the players the quality of Titus Bramble not somebody you want to take us to be champs.
He should be shit hot from day 1.
When you moved out to Alicante from GB were you fluent in Spanish the moment you got off the plane?
Somewhat tangential that innit.I didnt come to Spain to make a living therefore my level of Spanish was not an issue.Agree, but moved out there to live at a fair expense I'm assuming? Therefore I doubt you felt overly comfortable in new surroundings?
We have bought Joleon to be a high quality defender in which department he has been a little lacking.
I haven't criticised JL in any thread before ,I only did it in this because I dont accept this gelling theory as an excuse for poor performances.
I dont see the point of buying good players if they are gonna neeed time to bed in.How many goals did Anelka score for chelski in his 1st season?
As I said before I think they will get better the longer they are with us but to begin with the should be at a very high standard.
If to say hypothetically we were to get Kaka at Xmas,I would expect him to be exceptional from day 1 and the get better as time went on.He's hardly set Real Madrid alight has he?
Look at our Robson he was brilliant in his first game and has got better since then.

For a record british signing, I would not have expected that he would spend so much time standing around in away games last season, to the point that I was SCREAMING at the TV for him to be taken off asap.
Actually, I recall at the time that the commentators and the pundits at half time tended to agree.... and everyone on here said the same thing...
What exactly impressed you about him in all those away games? I thought he was nothing short of lazy and uninterested.

Him doing the same as he did in the home games and the pundits spout of the what they've read on here and know little about what happens for real IMO.

AT 20 ODD MILLION QUID FOR A DEFENDER I ALSO WOULDNT EXPECT HIM TO MAKE STUPID FUCKING MISTAKES DUB...BUT HE DOES!
I ACTUALLY THINK ROBBIE HAS PLAYED WELL....YOU HAVE TO REMEMEBR WHAT HE BRINGS TO THE TEAM..HE TAKES 3 FUCKING OPPOSING PLAYERS WITH HIM WHERE EVER HE GOES AS THEY KNOW WHAT DAMAGE HE CAN DO.....AND THAT GIVES US MORE OPTIONS.
I THINK THAT SOME FANS EXPECT HIM TO SCORE SHIT LOAD OF GOALS...BUT THE THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO HIS GAME THAN THAT.
I DO AGREE THAT HE CAN DO MORE - HE HAS BEEN INJURED FOR 3 MONTHS MIND SO I TENDO TO FORGIVE ANY SHORTCOMINGS.....FOR NOW.

Well, you're the stat man - but in my recollection his assists and goals in away matches as well as what I saw as a lack of interest in his all round play were what brought (almost) everyone to the conclusion that he disappears.
Obviously you saw some world class play - give me some examples and stats from the away games that brought you to your conclusion that he is just as good away as he is at home?

On average Robson tries about 30 passes in a home game with about a 90% success rate and about 5 tackles

This is according to the Guardian.
Watching him perform like this makes me think that the accusation that is laid at him for not turning up at away matches is somewhat inaccurate.
And he does all that skillfully and smiling most of the time.

What that tells me is that he must be giving the simple pass rather than the more difficult....
What about the difference in the IMPORTANT stats, like goals and assists?
