MCFC - Cut Ties with Showsec NOW

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

MCFC - Cut Ties with Showsec NOW

Postby Nick » Wed Nov 27, 2013 9:46 pm

Lads chucked out and banned in my block tonight for standing and.. wait for it.. 'singing'. No abuse. No swearing.

Glad I didn't go.

City you will never fill a week night match if this shit carries on. We had it in the south stand years ago now the whole stand is allowed to stand (yet still barely musters a song but thats another point...).

The police even agreed with the fans but said they had to enforce showsec.

I just don't know where the club want to go. No atmosphere and empty? = less money and financial implications?

the atmosphere has been the worst in years this year already despite 7 and 6 goal wins (this due to many fans not renewing and all new faces around me in 110).

I imagine they will have to get onto the club ASAP.

I can't see the vid where I am but if this is the old geezer video, I seem to remember being told similar by those who actually saw it, and confirmed by someone who knew the guy that there was actually fuck all wrong with him, other than being pissed.

Showsec have always been wankers, they threw me out of the Hatton Malinaggi fight for smoking, even though they walked past 5 guys smoking to get to me.......... but so have every company who have ever been in charge of security at any football match, you only need to look at the swamp for evidence of that.

Can I just say the singing section is the biggest load of crap ever. They don't promote atmosphere just seems to be a load of kids hurling abuse at away fans and saying the south stand is shit. Ive sat in south stand for about 5 years and it's always been lively that hasn't changed since the intro of singing section.

Sorry for rant

Spot on mate..... you can't hear the singing section sing anywhere else in the ground except once or twice when the whole section bother to tear themselves away from staring into the away end offering folk out they will never see outside the ground.

Largely seems to be a bunch of fucking idiots who populate that area

I saw this, I was in 111 and couldn't believe they were being kicked out for standing up......

The chants of 'Stand up if you love City' made me chuckle as the rest of the block stood up

It's sad that people can't stand at a football match, but I get that others may want to sit
"If we fire our manager after just one bad season - We'll become Chelsea"
"If we think we can fix the problem by buying expensive players - We'll become City"
"If we remember the good times to entertain us during the bad times - We'll become Liverpool"

So, keep calm and do it the United way

"We invest in young players, That is what we are good at — we’re not like other clubs who can spend fortunes on proven goods. We know that Manchester City are going to pay stupid money, pay silly salaries and all that. We can’t do anything about it. We concentrate on what we can do to try to bring players in for the right reasons. We invest in those who will be with the club for a long time, who will create the character of the club, who will create excitement for our fans. We are very proud of that and we are going to continue that way" - Alex Ferguson 14th May 2012

Sitting is a good thing in the family stand because i've got my little fella with me so it means he can see. I would prefer to stand but it's an all seater stadium so we can't. My major bugbear is fucking daytrippers, 136 was full of the cunts last night. A handful where Plzen fans who celebrated when they scored and the stewards did nothing.

Me and Kinda sit in 110 and we don’t know anyone around us anymore. The atmosphere is shocking, its not been bouncing for a long time. City can’t make their mind up about standing and sitting. Some games they leave well alone, other games they spend the entire 90 mins arguing with fans. Its a joke and ruins my enjoyment of the game.

I emailed Vicky Kloss a while ago about showsec as she is the communications person at City. She did not respond which kind of contradicts her title really. City do not care about the fans or the atmosphere people need t realise that. u****d do not get the same problem at the front of their k stand where around 2000 stand, yet City are insistent on making our match day experience awful but bombared us with emails about beer and pies and 10% deals on clothing in the club shop.

I do not think they look after the fans as well as they want to be portrayed.

THEY DO NOT MAKE THE AWAY FANS SIT DOWN AT LEAST ONCE IN ANY GAME.

To be fair to the club they dont make us in the south stand sit down. I've never had a problem what they should do is move away fans and give us that whole end to stand and sing

Firstly - I take exception to the east stand/singing/standing section being labelled with the tag ''kids and yobs''. I don't know if this is the case with 112, but I am in 109 and have been for the last four years (on the advice of stewards as we were previously on row A of 107 and had showsec persistently ruining the experience. The stewards specifically said, move to 109 and you can stand up). Our row/ block ranges from mid 20s to 60s and, not to sound like a dick, but we are mostly educated professionals that just want to support the team and generate a bit of atmosphere. I’m not a fan of this whole ‘we want the beer drinking working class singing fans out’ and ‘new posh wealthy plastic fans in ‘ ideology that the club are potentially seeing as an income stream.

Secondly - the crowd in our block is unrecognisable from last year (and the previous four years) with alot of people choosing not to renew due to cost and also the persistent hassle and abuse from showsec.

Thirdly - I used to sit in the south stand (IMO that is where you find the 'yobs' that like to argue and fight among each other, and barely watch the game). We had the same abuse then; with rows being regularly cordoned off for standing. Now showsec have left the entire stand to stand up. I moved to 110 before this happened when it was clear that there was more atmosphere in the East stand corner (and better view).

Fourth - I don't get where you can possibly come from with 'we can't hear the east stand' and laughable comments like 'the bell stand is louder' I have been forced to sit in near silence in tier 2 of the bell stand and its clear for the whole game that the noise comes from the East stand corner.

I echo alot of the above comments. I'm sick of persistent emails from city trying to 'upsell' and ‘generate an atmosphere’; yet being a clear contradiction on match day with fans being told - 'singing isn't tolerated'. Mancini himself would issue rally cries before games, so there is a contradiction here at City.

At the end of the day, nobody in 111/110/109 is complaining about standing. Showsec are 'bully boys' and like to target one or two individuals to make an example out of (as seen by man handling an elderly gentlemen despite the whole block being clearly stood, resulting in, I believe, the showsec guy being on the end of a punch from a fan). IMO they can only get the message if us fans stick together in a show of defiance.

If they pick on me and try and carry this behaviour on to weekend matches when they can’t just pick on individuals, I will cancel my direct and not renew. I know in this day and age of ‘new city’, the club probably couldn’t give a fuck, but maybe when the club are thinking of expanding despite a half empty stadium on week night matches, they should have a hard look at this.

I am in all the cup schemes but could not go on Wednesday so gave my ticket to a work mate. If they try to make 110 sit down it will open a massive can of worms. I believe a problem that the club will not want to take on. I feel an on line petition about showsec is needed and maybe the press informed. You know what journalists are like about negativity surrounding our club.

Two separate comments there from two different people. I think people who go in the blocks you mention have an inflated idea of what they contribute to the atmosphere, that's all. Most games the most you can here is when the corner starts singing abuse at a fat guy or someone with ginger hair etc.

When you are sat down there, (as I did in the South stand for a number of years) the atmosphere around you seems good, but when you then spend a few years sat elsewhere in the stadium, you soon realise that the odd song every 10-15 mins doesn't constitute what you describe as singing 'throughout the game', and hence why the 'singers corner' is as much use as a chocolate fireguard in terms of getting the atmosphere going in the rest of the ground.

Appreciate what you are saying about the uneven stewarding policies btw, it's wrong, people need to know where they stand (literally).

Spot on, a lot of the Kids in the singing section aren't there to watch the game and of course it is the same in 116 of the south stand, but the only section that actually make any noise are the south stand, and even then it is one song every ten minutes. I have sat in both the south stand and the teenage cunt section but only realised when sitting in the 3rd tier how pathetic the atmosphere really is at City.

I was one of 6 thrown out on Wednesday for standing up the police and steward was all nicey nicey in the row k 110 but complete arse holes up on the concourse were the confrontation is away from over 500 people standing up and booing. Minimum of three games ban the club are unwilling to speak over the phone and will only communicate through writing . It's a complete n utter joke I could rant on and on but the way I look at it is this club no longer wants real fans and real singing they want people who go and buy there £7 pies and £3 cokes. And everybody is aware of each time the club emails out a survey it's all about food n drink. Us lads have been season ticket holders since main rd we are all talking about walking away for good. (CARN'T SING CARN'T STAND WHAT CAN WE DO). Stand up for real fans !!!!!!!!!!!

my experience of stewards is that they are bell ends who enjoy arguing with fellow bell ends
in nearly all the confrontations i have seen i would apportion blame to both sides
