I think Everton have definitely improved under Martinez who's a very good manager indeed. Of course next season they'll lose Deulofeu and Lukaku although they may keep Barry. The scum will probably come after Barkley too. Also can Distin keep going for much longer.

Their real problem is that it's hard for them to evolve from being a selling club. Still last season they relied on free kicks and aerial threats. They're miles better this season; a really good passing team.

I wouldn't bank against Everton making top 4 this season. They're in with a shout and if they do, they'd be able to attract better players for the future.

Has them 5th so far, so worse than the real table.

I don't know if Everton will be able to keep their performance level as high for the full season, but if they can then they are definitely in with a strong shout of finishing in the top 4. And I'd like to see that too!

Funny how I hated Moyes Everton for so long but can so suddenly love Martinez's Everton.

Yep, same here. Just like I seem to hate United more now Gollum is there. Strange world.

I agree that if they qualify for the Champion's a League it will help them hang on to players like Barkley but they haven't got the resources to pay the wages we for one can afford. I agree with Ted that we should take a long hard look at Barkley. He won't come cheap mind but he looks as if he's got a sensible head on his shoulders and he certainly has a lot of talent.

By their methodology it actually wasn't a great weekend for us, as we dropped 2 more but Chelsea only 1 (as Stoke are higher rated than Southampton).

I don't know what to expect when we play Arsenal. I think we should be able to cause them huge problems ... but then I could see them causing our shaky defense massive problems too. Should be a really really good game.

Well, their version has a set target of 90 points (compared to 83), an expectation to not lose a single game (compared to 5) and 7 'easy' away games (compared to 6). Obviously everyone is doing worse apart from the scum who are just as shit in the regular table.

Yeah, it's just a bit of playing around, but can give some perspective regarding fixtures early in the season.

I recon if he had played v us for Dortmund, & was called Wankensteiger or similar, everyone on here would be fucking raving about him.

Has the kind of quickness & energy we need plus all round ability, great touch & a football brain. He's 20 years old is 6ft 2 & plays on the ball like he's 25 & 5 ft7.

This lad could, over time, play anywhere in attacking mid or even become the Roy K**ne style allround centre mid our team needs, & be there for 15 years. He would be young enough to join wth our academy players as they come through.

You can never tell how a career will go, but if we let rags,Chelsea etc poach him without at least trying & he turns into the next Gerrard, we should shoot Txiki in the head.

I thought we always were?

The bookies aren't usually wrong (unless you're Red Fred or whoever it was who paid out early ;-)) and they'll have analysed the games to come with a touch of where they think teams will exceed.

Just after we signed Rodwell I was speaking to a toffee fan in my local, he was saying that before the deal was announced their was a strong rumour that city were in advance talks for 1 of their midfielders and a lot were panicing that it was Barkley, but was more than happy to see the back of rodders even for the money they got

Nope. Beat them head to head twice and match every other result and we win on GD.

Far too early in season to say we need other results to for us.

At the time of the writing Arsenal was one up. So we needED them to drop points.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

You don't get points for being one up.

Noticed on here everybody gets jumped on for spelling mistakes, yet nobody has mentioned that the title of this thread is spelt wrong! Lol

But seriously I think arsenal can win, I remember when we won it everybody saying 'united always finish strong' 'city have no experience' blah blah blah, what does that matter? It's about the here and now, and at the minute arsenal are getting the results they need and I can't see why that will stop happening

Actually that is only true with a virgin market, with a mature market weight of money decides the odds including a huge knock on to the bookies from movements on the exchanges as they will attract money from people looking to trade a guaranteed profit if they go out of line with the exchanges by much. So the odds are the cumulative opinions of the market rather than of the bookie(s) involved. An additional point, the market is a more accurate predictor than the bookies are as historically the SP in horse racing is a much more accurate predictor of results than early prices, bookies' board prices or bookies' "tissues."
